    But it was mainly for aesthetics. I love the way it looks against the fiberglass engine covers.

    Haha thanks mate! I was waiting for someone to point out the GTR. Unfortunately it's not mine. I haven't even had the opportunity to drive it. But i've been in a few times and it's blows me away every time.

    As I promised, a few HQ pics of the engine bay. I'm thinking of getting myself those billet alloy cap covers - but if anyone has other ideas, let me know. I may paint them... Im undecided at the moment.

    Thanks guys!

    I like the way the billet caps look. Having a hard time finding some that don't have LS Series stamped on them. An L77 isn't an LS series (i know they're pretty damn similar), but false advertising if I were to put them on in my opinion haha.

    The detail you go to amazes me... But I always say it's the little details that separates the average from the awesome. I'm going to have a look at your my ride again and study your billet caps lol.

    Re: Damo's Series II Redline SSV (A6 Sedan)

    Been a little while - About time for an update.

    I've been through a few idea's, first wanting new wheels, then wanting to get a 3.45 Diff from a Manual SS. The diff didn't work out as planned though, as I discovered when I dropped gear on the freeway and matched the revs to what the diff gears would bump my revs to (around 1850rpm), my drone-less KPM exhaust droned excessively! To the point where you feel like you'll get a headache or migraine if it doesn't stop... So i've since let that idea go.

    At the moment I'm toying with the idea of a cam. Pretty keen on getting it done, just waiting to see if I can go for a drive with some one who has a similar cam so I can see what it is i'll be getting.

    In other news, I ordered some Plasti-Dip and have been having a little bit of a play with it. It's brilliantly easy to use! And 100% removable which is great! I've ordered a 325 badge from the E3 GTS to go on the boot lid (This will be plasti-dipped black before it goes on).

    Anyway, a couple of photos of the side SS badges I Plast-Dipped this week.

    New badge:

    On the other side is the SSV badge painted matte black also.

    Im not sold on the 325 badge, I've left it on for now but it may come off shortly.

    New purchase: TCE 10 & 1/4" 2800 hi stall converter with lock up.

    Now to start collecting the rest of the parts being:

    1. DOD delete
    2. 22x 23x duration cam. Not sure on exactly which. Trying to work out what will suit me. I'll be retaining the stock diff gears also.
    3. Big trans oil cooler.

    Can't wait!

    Re: Damo's Series II Redline SSV (A6 Sedan)

    Got bored and decided to apply sound deadener to the spare wheel well to combat some of the drone I cop going up hills in 5th or 6th.

    Short testing found that it certainly lessened the booming through the cabin when hitting a hill in a high gear. To say the drone is cured, that would be an overstatement and a half. A lot of the boys know that the wheel weeks in these things are pretty thin. When I knocked on the plastic with the wheel removed it sounded like a big drum...

    Anyway, 2.5 hours and around 20 cuts from the foil edges, I ended up with this:

    If you have a spare 2 hours and a 100bucks to waste, this will reduce a little booming. If you want to stop drone entirely, change your exhaust to something quiet.

    Re: Damo's Series II Redline SSV (A6 Sedan)

    Good news!

    With Nicks's from NJCs help, we have ordered all the parts ready for the cam install.

    Here's a quick list of the pieces purchased:

    Camshaft 228/232 112LSA 600/600;
    Timing chain;
    ARP flex plate bolts;
    ARP balancer bolts;
    DOD delete (valley plate, lifters, valve springs etc)
    Manley-trend push rods;
    Head gaskets;
    TCE 2800 hi stall conveter;
    PWR transmission cooler kit; and
    Oil, filters and fluids.

    My requirements of the cam upgrade were (in order of priority):

    1. Angry lope cam idle;
    2. Strong torque curve across the rev range; and
    3. Reliability and daily drivability.

    I've changed everything necessary to eliminate any weak links in the system. Reliability is very important to me, hence my decision to install the trans cooler and timing chain gear.

    All gets installed next month, I'll post up pics of the parts when I get them next week.

    Opinions welcome!
