Looks like a V6 in that video anyway..... could mean a TTV6 also that video was from 2008.

Doesn't really look good for forced induction either way, compression is too high for factory fitted F/I.
I'm still hoping for a C6-R type 5.5l F/I, not that i'm chasing supreme power but a more up to date way of delivering the power, move with the rest of the field.

yeah i wouldnt mind if they didnt come out with a turbo or supercharger etc cause most of the time ppl upgrade them to big and better anyway. as long as this gen V LT1 is as good as it looks then hopefully may see it in the commy's.
i think the VF will be like the Ve models when they first came out, hsv still had the Ls2 then a year or so later just before S2 they started putting Ls3's in them.
May even see an LSA in the hsv and the LT1 in the SS if were lucky, who knows really...

yeah few ppl now saying that it could be the V6 tt.

I was told that the reason holden used the LS2 then the LS3 was that they had heaps of LS2's left over and basically got rid of the stock before updating to the LS3.

I was thinking the same thing, I already have an LT1 fitted to my HQ holden, WTF?

That offset water pump drive look like they are leaving room for a supercharger drive system in the centre.
Wonder if the uncrackable ECU I've been hearing about will be a reality, that would make things difficult for those of us who cant stand anything standard.

Nissan said the same thing with the R35 GTR and if I remember right it took about 2 weeks after people got there hands on them before a programer cracked its brains open.

There is another way of looking at that.
When the 6L LS2 was released, it went into the new Corvette.....the same as this engine is. I think you'll find that the next "application/announcement" for this engine will be VF HSV.......just as the 6L LS2 went into VZ.
    Cheers, Pickles.

haha I was gonna say, I remember in the mags the engineers going on about the ECU was "uncrackable"

30 seconds after the release, every man and his dog is tuning them.

I can understand the reasoning for doing so, with warranty claims and emmisions, but if the owner is willing to take the risk and void warranty, then fair game.

I think you may be right, the OEMs often underestimate the capability of the aftermarket guys.
While GM has said that tuners will have a hard time cracking it, it isnt really in there best interest for it to be uncrackable anyway, surely the tuneablity of the current ECU has help sales of there products not to mention GMs own aftermarket performance parts division.

Slightly OT but I hope they've been working on a DSG 'box. Going from driving a 2012 SS Camaro to a 2011 Golf wagon really highlighted to me how bloody good those DSG boxes are!

I can't believe the LT1 is still using a pushrod design. An all new engine that utilises dinosaur technology... And it is AFM equipped, because performance and AFM has been so great in the past.... Im pretty disappointed.

On the plus side, It definitely makes owning a 6L GenIV feel like your not missing out on anything new! So I guess that's good?

Yeah I know. It's proven to make big power. But when you have Porsche, BMW and Mercedes making V8s that seem to defy physics by propelling their cars to new limits without using pushrods, you'd hope a brand new design from GM might have some similarities... Or at least show some signs of being an engine built with technology that wasn't first used pre 2000...

Why replace "dinosaur technology" with something that increases the weight, physical size, complexity and cost of the engine for a small efficiency gain just because others in the industy do it?
GM alrealy make a quad cam V8 (search Cadillac Northstar V8) so its not like they cant build one, I'm sure they have there reasons for sticking with OHV.

Continuous VVT and direct injection are quite a large step forward
