The car just feels a lot more alive and responsive is probably the easiest way I can describe it.

What about a non R8 clubby, you still get HSV brakes and 6.2, albeit no leather standard, no sunroof compared with the Redline, earlier this year I saw non R8 at a dealer for less than $55,000 da manual (may have been 2012 build), they also had a Z series Redline for less than $50,000, about a $5000 difference from Reline Z series to the base Clubby. The Clubby had 20" Pentagons.

Depends what your willing to sacrifice? Go the standard Clubsport gain the LS3 and the better brakes, but you lose all the "luxuries" that the Redline and R8 have. Go for the Redline and lose out on the better brakes and LS3 but you get all the fruit. Go for the R8 and get all of it but it'll cost an extra $20k over the Redline.

My local Holden dealer has a runout E3 R8 (not sure if man or auto) at $55k in its showroom at the moment. What would be the better buy, VF Redline or E3 Clubby?

If you have the means to do it why not?

This type of car isn't going to be available from the manufacturer for too much longer the way industry is going in Australia.

Bang for buck value the E3.

If you don't drive the VF/GenF first then you won't be disappointed with the E3. I personally couldn't buy the "old" model knowing how good the new one was, i would get the VF Redline before the E3.

Can't directly answer the question having never been in a VF but I wouldn't be in a hurry to buy. Sounds like the VFs are an awesome bit of kit and as more people discover that I reckon the price of old E3 stock will drop through the floor.

    Re: I shouldn't have

me personally id wait till some one else buys it puts 10-20k on the clock and buy it privately for either car that is, youll always get it cheaper privately.
buy a brand new car as soon as you drive away in it you've lost 10k or more.
have you thought about modifications for either car ? if you buy an ss you can put an full exhaust ( headers, 100cpi cats ,2.5"cat back exhaust ) then get a maffless tune and OTRCAI , and gain 30+ kw I did this to my ute and havnt looked back !!! you can upgrade brakes (if needed) with getting 2nd hand ones brembo etc , tyres /rims you can do yourself cheaper also .

either way enjoy your new ride !

light em up go holden ; )
