And has now extended to their petrol range they have admitted
I'm not a hoon, I'm just competitive
The resale on VW's is going to go through the floor.
Good news we might be able to pickup a bargain Vdub shopping cart now!![]()
yeah wow, this is really now getting quite interesting
Amazing though how even a while back when all the issues with the DSG's etc die hard vw nuts were so defensive. Shame though that so many people chose to buy a substandard overpriced product over a locally built vehicle. Too late now though.
Add to that V6's http://jalopnik.com/epa-volkswagen-a...-em-1743809215
"VW admitted all 3.0-liter diesel V6 engines—found in various VW, Porsche and Audi models—on 2009 to 2016 model year cars also contain software to circumvent emissions laws during testing, despite the initial denial made at the beginning of this month."
Wonder how the USA dealers are going along with customers depreciation accelerating faster to the ground than a town bikes panties?
&
Yes Bob Lutz was right his description of German pig headed ego manic dictatorship type management at VW HQ.
It's going to cost them plenty & more now - with lots of hard lessons for them to learn and these will be forgotten as time passes unless the management structure is "really" shaken up & fixed.
Came out today & mentioned there were only 36000 vehicles affected! http://www.skynews.com.au/news/world...unfounded.html![]()
Volkswagen Presentation Interrupted by single Protester at the Geneva Motor Show, Video link below.
Published on 1 Mar 2016
A presentation by Volkswagen at the Geneva Motor Show was interrupted by a demonstrator on Tuesday. The man, dressed as a VW mechanic, walked on stage and said that Volkswagen's chief executive had sent him to fix a display car's engine, alluding to the carmaker's emissions scandal last year. Volkswagen to pay over $13 billion for US emissions cheating scandal, sources say
The Volkswagen Group will pay more than $US10 billion ($13.3 billion) to settle claims by nearly 500,000 owners stemming from its US diesel emissions cheating scandal and fund efforts to offset pollution, three sources briefed on the agreement say.
Key points:
Owners will receive over $5,000 along with an estimated value of the vehicle
VW will introduce a program to offset pollution as part of the settlement
VW is not expected to be allowed to resell repurchased vehicles
Speaking on condition of anonymity, due to court-imposed gag rules, a source said owners will receive an average of $US5,000 ($6,633) in compensation along with the estimated value of the vehicles as of September 2015, before the scandal erupted.
Owners would also receive the compensation if they choose to have the vehicles repaired, assuming US regulators approve a fix at a later date.
As part of the settlements, Volkswagen will help boost zero emissions vehicles and introduce a program to offset excess diesel pollution from the offending vehicles.
Now what will VW Australia do for Australian customers ? Will it be the slicing of the raw end of the pineapple to local customers as we have wowful protection laws why VW group syphons of it's profits to minimising Australian tax payments?
Situation normal then huh...
VW might bring them to OZ as a grey import. We seem to get all the other crap dumped here from car manufacturers.
Getting off topic of VW, in the current Wheels magazine there is an article on Nissan takeover of Mitsubishi. The article says there was a cheating on fuel tests on some of its (Nissan) cars sold in Japan, Nissan let it be known that all of the affected cars (or engines?) were Mitsubishi supplied. Mitsubishi share price literally halved over a few weeks, and Nissan acquired a $3 billion slice of Mitsubishi for half what it would have cost a few weeks earlier (Nissan already had 13% share and needed 34% for control of Mitsubishi).
Yes Nissan now controls Mitsubishi.
UPDATE VW: TOTAL USA Bill for DIESEL GATE 14.7 Billion dollars.
About time VW Paid up some where in the world for all the lies /deceit lack of Warranty accountability in Australia.
I look forward to VW making plugin electrics & hybrids - they may well be something worth finally purchasing with greatly improved reliability.
"Volkswagen/Audi this week announced a settlement agreement with U.S. federal regulators, private plaintiffs and 44 U.S. states on Dieselgate, involving TDI diesel engine cars.
The costs for the company on the buybacks and lease terminations, emissions modifications (if approved) and cash payments to affected customers for approximately 475,000 eligible 2.0L TDI comes to $10.033 billion.
However, an additional $2.7 billion will be spent on a environmental remediation fund and $2.0 billion in initiatives to promote the use of zero emissions vehicles in the U.S.
Total bill? $14.7 billion.
We should note, that the $2 billion related to zero-emission cars says only that the amount will be spent over 10 years."
One good thing out of all this, is they treat you like a king when you go in for service or warranty work now. Must be in damage control plus trying to repair the reputation I reckon.
14.7 billion - would be like you and I losing a tenner.
