Gazza, don't know if you have Bursons in Vic? Cause I buy off them in bulk. Best value in 10 or 20L drums. I just bought a 10 tenths 10w40 in a new enviro 20L pack for under $200, not bad value.
Like many people for years I've been using Castrol Edge 10w60 oil (at 7,500km intervals with new filter).
The way I use my car the engine never gets hot enough for sustained periods to really justify 10w60 so I asked my (very respected) tuner who suggested Penrite 10 Tenths 10w40.
Problem is like Edge 10w60 it's quite expensive unless on sale. Eg. currently $74.99 at and Autobarn. Repco $79 normally, $72 for RACV members.
Therefore, just like the Castrol Edge thread, this one would like to know of any Penrite 10 Tenths fully synth sales coming up please.![]()

Yep, plenty of Bursons down here though 20L drum would be a problem for me.
I actually bought a couple of 6 litre Nulon 10-40 Fully Synthetic
the other day from Supercheap as it's on special for only $34.70 per 6 litre bottle.
AutoOne have 25% off store wide this weekend, not sure if there's one near you or not? If RRP is around $80, it would probably be about $60?
The price of 10w-60 is becoming just Stupid!!!... the other week Penrite 10w-60 full RRP was like $89 for 5 liters, totally crazy, not going to happen any longer...
In the past usually got it for around $70 - $75 only on special.
Last oil change, which was just last week for me, I switched to Castrol 5w-30 Full Synthetic, which was only $48 on special for 5 liters. Usually around $60 full rrp...
As per my OEM owners manual, it recommends 5W or 10W for the first number (when cold) and 30 for the second number (when hot).
With Castrol 10w-60 I was getting random cold start lifter tap, which would disappear after about 10 minutes of engine running.
Had been running Castrol 10w-60 for ages, and was over the cold start lifter tap noise, which was becoming a lot more frequent..
Switched to Penrite 10w - 60 previous oil change, no more cold start lifter tap noise, totally gone... go figure...
So far have been running the Castrol 5w - 30 for past week, zero cold start lifter tap noise running the thinner 5W oil, all good.
Being thinner 5w, it'll flow better on cold start.
It's only a daily driver...
