    Ve Fuel Flap

Last night i pulled into the servo to get a bit of juice but i was unable to get the fuel flap tp open on my SS. For some reason the locking part has seized or something and it wont pop open.

Any ideas how i can get the stupid thing to open. The old style with a handle to pull to open the flap was amuch better idea IMO.

    Thanks

Maybe there would be a way to shimmy the locking mechanism? I'm not sure but as long as it doesn't damage your car it's worth a try.

There is a hook on the flap. You place the strap between the cap and the neck over the hook.

the flap has a little hook at the bottom of it on the inside....you just hand the cord that the fuel cap is attached to over it and sits there nicely

EDIT....Boom beat me...damn work internet is up and down today

    HHAHAHAH

I thought the little hook was to hold the cap itself aswell. BUT the inside of the cap has a hole in the middle which slide perfectly over the little hook,

Thats how i have been keeping my cap out of the way when filling up.

    LOL

I just rang a guy i know that works in the service dept at Holden to ask him if there is an emergency release for the locking pin. He went and pulled the trimming out of the boot while i was speaking to him and he said NO! Somtimes Holden really disappoint me! How could they not??!! Anyway, you've got 3 options i reckon...
    1. Tap the door while pressing unlock to see if it'll eventually open.
    2. Use a screw driver tp pry it open and then get it all fixed under warranty, including re-spraying your rear quarter.
    3. Take it to Holden so they can do "point 2" for you.

To avoid it happening in the future, put some grease on the locking pin... Mine was getting really loud when locking and unlocking so i opened the flap, pressed lock on the key and applied plenty of grease. then i just locked and unlocked it a few times and now... good as new!

I have gone with option 3 and dropped it into my holden dealer for them to have a look at. Service manager hadn't come across it before so i will see what comes of it.

I'll have to try that - I hadn't noticed the little hook and I've just been letting my fuel cap dangle there on its little cable, wondering why Holden didn't design somewhere to put the cap!

Just a quick note, make sure that your car is unlocked, otherwise the flap will not open. I don`t think it has been mentioned earlier. If you lock your car when you get out to fill it,your flap will not open. Hope this helps.....John
