I do now know why my rears have worn to 75% in 11000kms if this it correct..... I know some will say that I have layed rubber but truth is that I havn't, what else could be up?
I nearly reached 40,000klm before changing to new OEM bridgestones (19"). I could have got probably another 5 or more but I was driving to QLD and wanted fresh rubber under the car as I had the family with me.
From what I have been told there can be an issue with the rear setup of the VE alignment. I think it related mostly to the earlier models. There is an alignment point on or near the diff which can affect how the rear is setup. Basically what I was told. if this out, the rear wont be able to get near those specifications. If they can, than that's not the issue.
It is probably more to do with rear toe or camber (depending on the wear characteristics). Excesive inside wear - generally to much negative camber, outedge wear - positive toe in etc..
Hard excelleration from stationary and cornering can cause premature wear.
That scanned document is what was provided to me by mates at my holden dealer service centre. When I get an alignment I get them to match those settings as close as they can. How many people drive the car?, look for gutter rashes on the tyres (instead of the rim) edge of tyre tread and side wall.... can tell you alot.

Problem is that it is worn flat, with feathered edges inside and out. I am the main driver, and have done 98% of the kms and this includes a 5000km trip to QLD and back. Front tyres are fine, infact they look nearly new. Sidewalls of the tyres are fine, no scuff marks at all inside or outside. So out of 11000 kms i have had a wheel alignment at 3000, a trip to QLD 5000, that leaves another 3000kms of normal everyday driveing. I do not want to be paying for tyres every 15000kms.
Get an alignment done by a specialist that just does wheel alignments. Bad to say this but even most tyre shops do the quick toe and go on the front only.
Tell holden you want a 4 wheel alignment and they will charge you up to $200 and get a 1st or 2nd year to do it.
There are two points of adjustment in the rear. Will almost guarantee your toe is out. I simple check is to look directly down the outside line of the tyre. (Lay down behind car and position yourself so you can see both outside edges on one side ie 3 and 9 oclock on the tyre edge)
If that line of sight ends up seeing/ or lining up to about an inch inside your front tyre you have a toe problem. A "0" set toe will look like the tyres are even front to rear.
The old method of alignments with strings work on this principle.
I have what might be a dumb question.
My SSV is fitted with 8.5" front and 9.5" rears (retained 19" wheel size).
Will this mean the alignment specifications for my car have changed, or are the factory specs posted in this thread retained regardless?
