Its an interesting question that HSV now pose Mark....
From my gut feeling it will be around $165 for the car pre anything....which could mean on-road drive away cost of the mid 170s. Surely thats too much, way too much for any Commodore
HSV have sent letters out to those who placed an expression of interest on the W427.
In the letter it confirms that the car will be named the W427 and will sport the red interior as per the vehicle on display at the Melbourne Motorshow.
Final allocation and specs will be advised in late June.
Now for the scary bit - pricing will be between $148,000 & $168,000 plus on road costs.
Is a $100,000 premium over a GTS { assuming on roads costs } warranted for the LS7,Bigger Brakes and revised suspesion settings and a few cosmetic upgrades?
We are are long way from the $125,000 estimates with out taking into account good old Kevin07 just upping the luxury car tax by 8% which will push the price up about another $8,000.
What's your opinions fella's - have HSV over estimated what the punters are willing to handover for the privelage of putting their backsides into a 7litre HSV.
I think so.

I think its way too much for a commie as tuna has stated mark,if you had a ve and expressed interest,i would just throw a 427 in ,and get the interior re upholstered ,u wll save urself 60k plus,I myself having trouble making a decision between the E55 or C63,having driven the E55 for 2 weeks, was a awsome car,all ur missing is the kitchen sink

They aren't making many per year.
I can't see any problem. Different people view "value" differently. Many on here seem to think of it in the context of "but sponsor X can fit an LS7 for $30K". Buying this car is buying a genuine rarity.
Look at what people are paying for older stuff now. Way beyond what most people would pay, but they aren't "most people", and that's why this car will sell.
I can sense the good old "it's just a Commodore" argument firing up again...
Sorry HSV, I would be buying a new M3 for that sort of money. I dont think this is a competitive price at all. To many superior euro cars in that price bracket and the difference in cost to a regular GTS is to high. Around $125k was the right price range imo.
Still I reckon they will sell all the cars if they are a limited build.
You have a good point there planetdavo, thats why i expressed my opinion, others may differ,as if you re read what i wrote it says "what i would do" which is referring to me,i have payed alot for many hsv's in the past i,ve owned,i remember back in the day when i owned a walky,i sold it to buy the newly vn group a paying bak then nearly 60k,i regretted that day for ever as the walky is still the best i have ever owned,i should have never sold it,not from a profit point of veiw,i just loved the car, though i do respect ur opinion as ur entitled to it as others are here.
Ps: i dont fit 427's,though i am thinking of fitting one to my sv300 if i dont sell it.

Sonny, I can see you getting a bit of business out of the new HSV 427 supercar. Who would take a $150k - $170k car to those monkeys at a Holden dealership? I certainly would not. Even from new I didnt even take my Monaro to Holden (as you would know ).
I think that Hsv may sell a few even though the price looks to be a bit excessive.People will pay the money for the exclusivness and possible collectibility of these vehicles as long as hsv?holden doesnt end up putting the 427 into mainstream production further down the track.Me personally i would be spending 100k on a w427 killer (Ve gts, twin turbo 402 stroker,ap brakes). This would leave 50-60k to spend wisely on(booze, strippers, casino) and the rest i could just waste.
Seems like it is only being produced for extreme HSV enthusiests and collectors, who may place exclusivity above $$. Your average car enthusiest isn't going to buy one when there will be the likes of the new GT-R out there for(presumably) less. Nor will the badge snobs who can get better stuff from Germany for the same price bracket.
If you need a test mule, my car is available

The price does seem over the top when you initially look at it but wasnt the same debate going on when the price of the VX series GTS was up around the $100,000 mark??
$100,000 for a Commodore everybody screemed.....no way!!
That was, what, about 6-7 years ago. Compare the cost of living now to 6-7 years ago.
Dunno, might be just me but the price seems pretty much in proportion.
Cheers.
Can someone from HSV please explain to all the good folks of Australia how they JUSTIFY the $150,000 dollar price tag....... for the W427......
If CSV can do it for $100,000 why couldn't HSV do it cheaper with all their buying power......
R&D is not an answer to this question.........
Regards
Soren
I think a car like this is aimed at someone who will never touch the car, so one not wanting, or know that it's possible to have a better engine put into an R8. There will be people out there that buy them, most people on here would make their own as its cheaper and you decide what you get.
Would I buy it, no. HK GTS yes, so i think years ahead these will be worth a million plus to some people
HSV want between a 148 and 168K for the W427!?!?!?!?!
:flip:
That is all.
Save up the the extra $1000.......
