Holden Special Vehicles to launch two new models in Q1 2010
Holden Special Vehicles have confirmed the debut of two new models in the HSV line-up for 2010 based on the Pontiac G8 GXP program.
According to HSV Managing Director Phil Harding the HSV ClubSport GXP and HSVMaloo GXP represent an outstanding opportunity for HSV to complement its existing lineup with a limited edition entry level vehicle.
“We receive lots of enquiries about introducing a model to sit as an entry level to our brand and the GXP program provides us this opportunity.”
“I have always said that in order for a car to wear the HSV badge it needs to satisfy three criteria - Performance, Handling and Design.”
“Clearly these cars tick all three boxes.”
GM Holden and HSV shared engineering resources in the development and validation programs for the Pontiac G8 program, which co-incided with the development of the LS3 engine for the HSV range, which debuted in May 2008.
The ClubSport GXP and Maloo GXP receive key performance and styling treatments- HSV 6.2 litre LS3 V8 engine delivering 317kW and 550Nm
- Suspension;
o ClubSport GXP uses the unique GXP suspension tune,
o Maloo GXP has a unique HSV suspension tune,
- Brembo brake package unique to the GXP program,
- ClubSport GXP receives a unique rear fascia,
- E Series 2 daylight running lamps,
- E Series 2 front fascia and hood,
- E series 2 fender vent,
- E series 2 ClubSport R8 interior with sports cloth seats.

STRONG NOVEMBER SALES – COMMODORE ON TRACK FOR 14th NUMBER ONE
- Commodore Australia’s number one selling car year-to-date
- Captiva sales up 98% year-on-year
- Cruze top six - outselling 4-cylinder Camry
Holden sales are up more than 17% year-on-year with Commodore on track to be Australia’s top selling car for the 14th consecutive year according to figures released today by the Federal Chamber of Automotive Industries.
Holden’s Executive Director of Sales and Marketing, John Elsworth, said 40,041 Commodore’s have been sold year-to-date including 3956 in November.
“Showroom interest in our new direct-injection Commodore – with its improved fuel economy – is very high,” Mr Elsworth said.
Today’s FCAI figures also confirmed the Holden Cruze had recorded its strongest sales month since it arrived in showrooms in June, with 2274 sold in November.
“Cruze is now outselling rivals like the Golf, Focus and Lancer among others,” Mr Elsworth said.
“The good news is that our order books for Cruze are full and we expect demand to remain exceptionally strong.”
Holden’s Captiva SUV also continued to be very popular in the market, outselling Territory and RAV4. Captiva sales are up 98% year-on-year.
“We’ll add the new Captiva 5 to our SUV range this month and we’re confident that will broaden Captiva’s appeal even further,” Mr Elsworth said.
