For me the choice is easy. In the past I was always a fan of supercharging. The instant Boost is great and I'm actually quite a fan of a bit of Blower whine. But as Troy pointed out the flexibility of a Turbo setup means you can easily tailor your power delivery to what ever you desire via a boost controller. Also in all honesty we aren't talking about a little 1980's 1.6L Turbo with all its associated lag. We all run quite large engines and even though lag still exists you've still got upwards of 5.7L's of V8 doing its thing before the rage comes with full Boost. After driving Jezza's TT UTE last year, I was converted. I've been around Supercharged V8's but the feeling of that wall of torque you get from a turbo setup is to die for. Or the way you can cruise up a hill and not have to adjust your throttle as the extra load is compensated for by the turbos. Plus drive around off Boost and no one is none the wiser. O and lastly the looks you get with the sound of open atmosphere blow off valves combined with V8 grunt sticks it right up the ricers.. I love it.

I agree 100% with macca

I too was a supercharged only person (and indeed owned a supercharged monaro) until I drove a properly setup and tuned Twin Turbo Ls1.

Tone.

Macca described it well with the term "wall of torque" that’s exactly what it feels like!
Simply put you need to jump on a plane and go catch up with Tuna, Gareth and the boys. You won’t be disappointed!
I am not one to make recommendations to people as everyone has differing opinions on what is acceptable and what isn’t acceptable.
However I can stat first hand that Martin backs his products 100%!
Without going to much into detail Martin shipped me replacement parts even when all the symptoms of the problem I was experiencing didn’t even point to a problem with the kit! In the end it wasn’t a problem with the TT Kit as Martin had said all along, but he did everything he could to both keep me happy and to try and solve the problem.

I have personally had more experience with Martin's products than most end users with my old monaro having his Pro Fuel System, GEN TTR Kit and I then also purchased "NO MERCY".
Having owned 2 GEN TTR Kits would I buy another? YES, I love the tunability and power delivery the twins give.

Just my 2 cents Tone :)

Tone,
did you speak to APS today about their kit?
I just keep mentioning to state that there are other TT kits out there that are built as good or better than the GEN-TT kit.

I just think there is too much flexi pipe work with the Gen-TT kit.
That's just my opinion.

Are there any Whipple S/C kits on the market for VEs?

Ye you do keep mentioning APS!

APS has no interest in the Australian Market, The proved that by selling the TT kits in Australia for an inflated price and then took the kits to the US and sold them for an almost equivelant price to Ls1 Turbo.

If your bored you could look at some of the US forums they used to sponser for some interesting reading. :1peek:

Wall of torque i rekon if you could harness the pd blowers wall of talk from it would be as hard or harder then turbo. In my oppinion (currently have twin turbo calais Wifes car and i have a h122 gto) i would take the power delivery of the blower anyday. People often mistake the lineier torque delivery of the pd blowers think that they are not as punchy, turbo feels fast because its average power then a rush of torque. This sudden rush that winds it self up at 3000rpm is availabe just off idle on pd.But i guess the discussion could go on for ever because everyone has diferent tastes and there a horses for courses. Ulitmately tone must drive both and decide for him self.

some should start a poll on what tone should buy>
single turbo, twin turbo , Pd blower, or turbo feeding the blower for all round performance or save his money because he would drive it hard anyway.

I have seen countless APS TT kits being fitted. I have also seen a few Gen-TT kits fitted.

That is why I say what I say. If in Sydney go see Autotech Engineering.
Installation is a breeze with both kits. Just APS seems to be finished to a higer quality. Yes you pay for what you get. I have yet to see a customer not have great service from Autotech. And they back up all there work.

LS1.com seems very PRO sponsor. If you say something to deter from them you get SHOT DOWN. So much for freedom of speach and a right for an opinion.

No, we just like to support those businesses that help support our forum.
Yes, we get a little peeved at those who think they can just come on here to spam advertising a business without offering anything positive back to the community like our sponsors do ... or members who pretend they are just a satisfied customer of a business, when they ARE the business they are recommending

Wonky

Surely people wouldn't stoop to that??

Nah, you're right, I can remember at least one example not that long ago.... :(

I never mentioned Autotech, actually never heard of them and I didn’t mention anything about anyone not supporting their products or in the case you mention the product they sell.

But you came on here stating APS kits are price competitive with the GEN TT kit and are close to getting complianced, Tone rings APS themselves gets the real price and that they are not bothering to get their product complianced from the horses mouth so you then start rubbishing the competition.

No one is shooting anyone down except you, APS has told Tone they can’t help with his purchase as it won’t meet his requirements.

Exactly and the likes of LS1 Turbo, and all the other sponsors keep this site running for everyone to enjoy at no cost. So yes they are important part of the community.

or members who pretend they are just a satisfied customer of a business, when they ARE the business they are recommending
And it is starting to smell just like that with comments like this

Tone, That figure is a BIG change to what I have heard it will sell at.

PM me for details. I don't want to post it in public.

I have used APS products on my REX. They were great. fit and finish was excellent.

Also the reason I don't want to post the price in Public is just incase I got it wrong.
I was told a price that is why I said it will be competitive.
As I said Autotech do installs of Gen-TTs and the results are good. My opinion is APS kits seem better finished. ( thats my opinion ) I am not a business. I am a customer who has spent alot of $$$ modifying a my car. Now I am about to get my Clubbie. Which will also be modded!!!! Hopefully TT'd or Whippled.

Please mate, how am I being unrealistic? I really, really would like to know.

I expect a product to work the way its advertised, thats all.

You just answered your own question there matey. :p

I get the feeling this is a troll thread designed to stir up some sh*t, just like that dyno thread that was started by the same OP some time ago. It would be pretty funny if the whole FI plans fall flat on its face and nothing eventuates from 33 pages of discussion.

At least its a very entertaining read, if nothing else.

For once Ill agree with you Funky....

I unsubscribed from this thread for the very reason that UT was simply pulling his own chain, I come back for a look and nothing has changed.

Its 30 odd pages of attention seeking from a withered old rocker scrambling to retain his last ounces of " cool ".
In my opinion, I think you'll find the funds were approved for a new R/C car and actually not FI..... either that or Centerlink has requested a feasability study before they advance him the money.

I had the car lined up then moved house, and didn't have the room to do anything, so I bought a new GTS instead. Still got all the bits (interior etc) that I wanted off that Bentley wreck in storage, so I can resurrect the project at any time.....if thats OK with all of you, that is...

Shout box is missing you:jester: as for the Tuned Wreck grow the hell up

Tone you will find that some people around here dont have
much to contribute but the very thing they accuse others
of doing they do themselves, drive the TT when you can ,
I did then decided to stay N/A and honesty now that I
pushed that boundary I will look at FI as well, so I am watching
your thread with interest.
