    Rusted Brake Hose

Not LS related I know, but I thought I would share this as a lot of people have a lot of different daily,s on here no doubt. Attached is a photo of the brake line that was taken off my wife's VW Golf GTI Performance yesterday. Long story short it was in for tyre's and the fitters noticed the right rear brake hose pissing fluid onto the floor. Fortunately the tyre place I use is across the car park from the mechanic I also use, so he was able to quickly diagnose and order a replacement overnight from VW in Melbourne (nothing either aftermarket or OEM in Adelaide). Anyhow, as you may be able to see on the photo, water collects in the upside down rubber boot, cannot escape and rots the line over time. The replacement hose does not have the boot. The other 3 lines on the car have the boot, but you cannot see if the same is happening until it fails and falls apart and it is too late by then. I have already ordered replacement braided hoses for the car as I just don't feel confident driving it now and will be taking the faulty hose the VW today to see what they say. Anyhow, sorry for the short story long.

PS...The car has 48,000km on it.
