Well I've got coke cans rattling around under my car atm... Is it much of a job to pull off standard vy1 cats and knock out the insides until I can afford a new set?

Those cats were melted by the heat and the force from that supercharged motor.
I doubt any maker would warrant any cats against melting in a modified high performance use like that?

I don't know many people with DF cats but have heard of a couple of failures with them....... I know lots of people with Ballistic cats and haven't heard of any, though I'd be surprised if nobody had had one. They do seem very reliable though!

Cheers Wonky but aren't all aftermarket cats running a similar risk? I'm pretty sure anything short of 400cspi is going to cop it or am I mistaken? Funds aren't great atm and the rattlings killing the car!

Can I ask the OP how many km's went through these cats, and how long they were on the car till they blocked up like that?

I know 100cpsi cats are technically illegal but thought (with no proof I can think of) that above that were OK. I also think that whilst people running 100cpsi cats may be illegal, people who've deliberately gutted their cats and hence are running no cats would really incur the wrath of the law!

Sureflo currently have Ballistics on special - bloody good price and far cheaper for quality cats than any others I've seen here.
