you wont get 275's on an 8" rim. you will prob get 255's but i'd say that would be it. the rear hsv rims are 9.5" wide and they accomodate the 275 tyre.
hi guys
This might sound like a stupid question. Ive seen neat prices for some dunlop sport maxx tyres for ve and would like to go wider to 275/30/20.
Am just wondering can they be put on any 20" rims or do the rims have to be able to accommodate for the wider width?
I also know its important to find out what year the tyres were made so have to enquire about that with the supplier.
many thanks
cholo

dam it! lol
i should have checked the width when i 1st bought the rims. problem was i was desperate cos stuck in melb with one damaged factory rim and deflated tyres. so bought a whole set that was available. arrghh..
depends on what brand of tyres mateand the way the bead sits some are actually quite recessed
and also some rims are actaully 8" inside bead to bead not outside to outside...and also its a recommendation not that it has to be fitted to that size rim
Been there done thatand no I am not being stubborn

ive played around with tyre sizes (most of the well known brands) on my gts rims and currently run 255's on 8" and 285's on 9.5"
from my experience youre not gonna get a 275 to fit nicely or safely on an 8" rim with any of the well known tyre brands, 265 would be pushing it, 245 and 255 are fine
Hi
I have been looking at new rears and going the 285 Kumho KU31 in a 285 30 19. The tyre guy said I would need to remember that it would make my speedo read slightly higher. He said to get the speedo to read correctly I should go down to 285 25 19 or get speedo adjusted is this true or BS. Also any feedback on the tyres it's either these or Bridgies or continentals I think as I don't do many k and the bridges lasted 20ks under a lot of regular acceleration BUT no wheel spin when trying to get power to the ground which I am happy with. Others with more power spin while I dig in an take off

you like a bit of bulge hey?!?
Your biggest problem will be finding someone to fit them. I could not
find anyone in Adelaide that would fit bigger than 255 on an 8 inch rim
due to it being unsafe. You will save a fortune on insurance though,
because your policy will be worthless and you might as well cancel it,
that is straight from Shannons mouth![]()
