    Question VE 20" vs 22"

I've got a VE ssv ute with the stock 19" wheels looking to upgrade to 20 or 22" G8 wheels. I originally wanted 20s but I found a shop that will sell me 22" for pretty much the same price, so now im wanting the 22s

    20" $1650 w Tyres
    22 $1700 w Tyres

Obviously I'll have a bit harsher ride with 22s but is it really that much worse? But the ride quality doesnt really bother me, occasionally I drive alot of bad roads out west and I'm scared that I'll crack/dent/buckle a rim with the 22s, what do u guys reckon? Are they that much weaker? I don't wanna get stranded out in woopwoop with 2 or more stuffed rims and only one spare...

FYI my ute is lowered SL front and SSL rear with stock shocks.

If I was you I would stick with the 20's. My nephew put 22's on his Caprice which his wife drives 90% of the time and she claims she hasen't hit any pot holes and within 3 months all 4 of them had flat spots in them. In the end he got the shits with repairing them and put the 18's back on.

I think 20s are better for daily use and if the roads are crap that you drive on then I'd go 20s, most guys that I know with 22s on there Ve's say there a pain in the ass.

+1 both from the max 15mm in diameter increase plus the fact last I heard it was difficult to get tyres with the right load rating for a VE in 22s. The few guys I knew who had 22s on their VE have almost all sold them again - too harsh.

Those "clear" brand tyres might get a run.

I disagree - almost every set of 22s I've seen on VE looks too big IMHO.

Sorry but I disagree wonky, for me I look at the size of my Ve and the 20s look to small for it.

+1...for 22's look better then 20's anyday.... also you can put 22's on VE's without having any rubbing issues....as long as you only run 22x8 with the correct offset( i think its 48p not sure) with a nice low profile, like falken fk452's...with the standard mods to the rear guards (quick roll and relocate screw to rear bar ) you can run the car on pedders coil overs wound all the way down and never have any rubbing issue's....
    Like mine..

Go the 22 look much better than the 20. I have 22 on my wagon with gt monroe short shocks they ride better than std but hit pretty hard on potholes. I go way out west past bourke with no prob.Go see wholesale suspension in penrith you need good shocks and springs to help with the lack of no tire.

Agreed, I am not normally a fan of 22s but that does look damn cool.
