I'm sick of reading post after post and having to try and read between the lines to understand what is actually being said or meant.

They are the significant "others"... The ones that finally have their voices heard, on the Internet

Camaro would make a nice HSV model.

HSV what is it, it is a Holden that been modified for you. You could just do the same yourself for less (although they are more recently doing some harder changes such as different dash, different lights GTS etc).

Drop the HSV Holden base change to the Camaro shell. At the same pricing I'd buy one then.

When everything's coming your way, you're in the wrong lane.

I normally don,t like small cars, but the cruise is very appealing to me.

So i put in a vote for a HSV cruise,

it would be shit hot if it was VERY fast ,this is probably dreaming, have the new direct injection V8,and have the body kit HSV would supply.

It would be the V8 XU1 we never got.

    What is a V8 XU-1? XU-1 are sixes.
Are you talking about that thing never made in the early 70's?

Yes, the nearly famous XU2 that was killed off with the supercar scare of '72

I have for ages been of the view that Holden should have pursued the TT36 concept and built a smaller car on the VE style.
    I would buy one tomorrow.
Imagine; they could offer several engine options in a medium size car, looked bloody outstanding too.

Hi Bearwood, the clues are easy enought to find. Although I could be completley wrong
Nailit's Dad has accumulated a mass of HSV's as well as other performance cars and is a great repository of information. I think he was kicked from the forum some time ago after a 'run in' during a W427 thread. Martin is Martin. Davo... well Davo is Davo

A shame GR is not around to to tell more.

Hey Nailit, what's your Dad's name, I'm guessing he's the dude who has the big HSV collection and was in Wheels a few months back?
Got a few pics of his great collection you can share (maybe start a new thread)..

Sorry Cashie . . he is pretty much lost to this place . . . unless he enlightens me with something interesting from time to time that I may post around here . . . and there has been a few instances of that in this thread.

You can read his story elsewhere on another forum

. . . which is probably a quarter of the size of this forum and his Garages thread has had about 60000 veiws . . .

    hi,

look who,s been in my photobucket, hehehe, some good scans i,ve done.

Actually 3 308 V8 cars were made and driven ready for production in 72,they were thrashed about the streets, and by memory 170mph,very scary cars. They were able to take off in top gear as they came in just over 1 ton.But unfortunatly the super car scare in 72 ruined them being produced,2 were turned back to 6 cylinders and the other ran into a crash test wall,by what i can remember, from what i,ve read many years ago.

It would be amazing if Holden or HSV did a tribute car again, and with todays modern components in a small car look out ALL.

i wasn,t sure if you guy,s would remember these old pearlers, and i,ve got a 73 XU1 in the shed that i,ve had for about 24 years ,one of the last fully optioned 150 engines, capable of high 13s but was never published because holden were no longer making super car.
