Every car company will try and burn you with warranty.
They kiss your ass when selling you a car - thats how they make money
They play as hard to get as possible when they have to fix it - thats how they make money
Feeling some kind of love or loyalty to any car manufacturer is a joke and up there with religious cultism - all they want is your money to show the shareholders, and if they have to give you a happy ending on the undertable tag when it comes to signing the contract they will. Other than that you are referred to as a 'head' or a 'sucker' there to be squeezed for every cent. This is the part of their market they ALL understand superbly. Sorry if I have ruined anyones romantic dream of being the voice that makes the difference in this post.
My 2c is all of the pricks should give us MORE product for LESS money - and if they dont - then take your love somewhere else (buy a pet Alpaca or something), as car companies sure dont love you back. Ride them like dirtbikes and dispose of them at will. It doesn't matter which brand the car is - YOU are the boss
To give you a good example -
Subaru WRX in 1994 - $39,990
Subaru WRX in 2012 - $39,990
Now see what has happened to the prices of our local cars.....

Under a bonnet listening for knock with my earmuffs on
I was thinking the quote function must have gone awry since the thread went to Part 2.My apologies to XSNRGY.
FWIW even though I've never been well off enough to afford a HSV and the only possibility for me doing so is an inheritance from the sale of my parents' house whenever they cark it (hopefully I'll still be capable of driving then!) but I've found it a very interesting read, particularly with some of the insider insights into HSV. Having met and been helped by Graeme all I can say is congratulations on where all your hard work has got you and on your awesome collection of cars!!I hope to be able to get over there one day to see them in person.

Bloody hell old fella, frustrated much?
May i suggest a little lie down or a hug (i am not offering) or even a shower with a bar of soap (on a rope).
Same could be said for the aftermarket, or for any business for that matter.
When any business looses the ability to recognise that the customer is the priority they will inevitably fail. ALL businesses are in it to turn a profit, but when they forget that it is the customer that makes that happen and when they make their needs more important than the customers they soon see hard times.
Yes HSV need to make money. Yes they need to be viable etc etc. They are very fortunate that there is still this level of passion for the brand. I just hope that they realise that the passion will inevitably wither away if they dont react to what the market is telling them.
And before the likes of PD etc jump on board and say that they sell heaps and make money etc, let me remind you of the fact that they have many hundreds of unsold cars and the dealers are getting jack of it.
Oh, and for those that want to have a go at people commenting without having owned one (the aspiring owner is as important as the multiple buyer) i have my name on the wall and now have thrown my money the oppositions way (that is FPV not Audi).
HSV do read this stuff. And the true enthusiasts in at HSV agree with most of it. They are a great bunch of blokes and i have no doubt they want the best for the brand. Some just need to remember what made the brand so successful. They will find out the hard way that if they dont make that connection again as there will be fewer people (this is already happening) getting "happy endings under the table".
I really dont understand why this is so hard for some people to comprehend.

Have no fear Martin . . . the day of reckoning is coming . . . fast . . . HSV are only just starting to realise who the Boss is . . . xmas 2011 was the first year in 20 years Dad didnt buy himself a toy from HSV for Xmas . . . he still bought himself a toy . . . .its a sign of a reality check when they cant get him over the line!!!
You know as wel as me Martin that he will have one of the 25th Anniv Shitters . . . he won't be able to help himself . . . .but apart from the "Extra Special" variants that come from Clayton . . . he may well be done with HSV . . . but I doubt it!!!! . . . there is just so much more good stuff around at good money these days from other brands that he is now looking elsewhere. . . . this would have never happened in Crenno's day . . .
Crenno once said . . . Ford will never have a better number (Read KW) on their cars than a HSV . . . . and on his watch he made sure of it . . . but as we know . . . its not just about the number . . . BUT FARK ME . . . the number has something to do with it . . . . GM dont sell the CTSV with the LSA (its good value too) cos the market MIGHT need it . . . it does cos the market needs it . . . this thread would not exist if the LSA was in the HSV Brochure . . . . and if those fools that think the LSA is out of the $$$$ reach of GM in OZ . . . their dreaming . . . . Fark me . . if FPV owner Prodrive (who know how to make money) can go out on their own and source a Charger and pay for all the tooling with HARROP . . . we can have one from the US in a container
. . . and when stallwarts like Dad and Pickles start to stray . . . .that's another facet of the market they need to address
The buyer demographics are widening and Brands must understand this . . . as I have said previously . . . tunnell vision will not work in todays marketplace
In 2011/2012, it will take very clever people with very good products to get our money . . . complacancy by ANY manufacturer in any Industry will spell . . . err . . . tough times!!!
Not at all
In fact HSV/Holden have given me the best warranty experience of any of the cars on our fleet.
Going backwards through all the cars in the garage, the saying 'The more you pay for the car, the worse they treat you' holds very true.
Notably Hyundai and to a degree Mitsubishi currently provide the best warranty experience for us.
One particular German brand was extremely difficult to deal with IME. The Italians? wow....just wow.

On the surface that statement seems to say much about the current direction of HSV.
I have to agree! If I could have afforded one I would have been in a GXP like a shot, though not so much for the HSV name because as I've discovered with various HSV bits on my car the HSV name seems to triple (or more!) the price of parts for it, but for the 6.2 litre motor!
