And if the insurance company covered the workshop by writing the engine off, and the workshop re-sold the engine and it happened again, would the insurance company pay them out 'again'. If they can supply a tune and put the thing back together themselves then they should be able to give a warranty on the engine, then there is no way they could blame anything else for the next potential failaure.

he told me he bought the engine damaged from them for 4k
the engine is at a different workshop as far as the story from both the owner and the workshop have told me, as i was told this "Brad" guy works at a completely different shop.
if the workshop that has put it together now is a licensed mechanic which they would be by NSW state laws they have to offer a 20,000km warranty or 12months warranty.

So if he got it for 4k it would have cost say what $1500 for a new head probably $1500+ for all new valves + the head porting i dunno $800-$1000.
$200-$500 for bearings
$1000-$1500 for sleeves it's probably cost him about 10k to fix it i'd say.
