    Re: Work begins

Another small update. When I changed the clutch I changed the gearbox oil and filled it with redline lightweight shockproof oil. Whilst it made gearbox smooth to drive and silent it made gear shifts a little bit notchy. So wasn't overly happy with it. Especially for the price I paid for it.
Drained oil today and filled with Penrite MG70 which is a full synthetic 70/75 weight gear oil. Am very impressed with the outcome box is even smoother and needs minimal effort changing gear.
Have ordered an MSD digital shift light which is easy to install and remove wiring just clips on so to speak no soldering.
Providing the weather holds up will be racing it on Wednesday with correct tyres this time, also raised the rev limiter and fresh gearbox oil. So will see what happens.
Only installing shift light because not really used to driving a car that revs past 6200rpm have driven cars with higher limiters yes but wasn't day in day out and racing

Great work mate - following your build with interest. On a side note, how would this cam go in a stall auto?

Mate I would love to see this cam go in an auto with like a 3 grand stally.
Is quite an aggressive camshaft so as soon as you flatten it you would be blazing the tyres

    Re: Work begins

    Bit of an update
Diff got treated to 4.11 gears and a tru trac centre
And have just pulled heads off last night.
Changing Lifters and decking heads 40 thou to bump up compression. Will have to flycut pistons and will take photos as this happens
Once is done and back together will be back to Girch for a bit of a tidy up due to increased compression.
Future plans for the car have changed it will still get stroked but am changing the cast sleeves in favor for a set of darton ductile iron sleeves which also gives me a larger bore to play with. Also wont be keeping factory heads hence why I am decking them now. Original plans were to use the heads I have and deck then to get compression I want when stroked.
Future combo will also benefit from a solid roller camshaft 12:1 comp plus aftermarket heads and intake and a few lil tricks here and there.
But for now bit more comp will help gain a lil more torque down low and should increase throughout the rev range.
