So a dodgy old leaf sprung rear isn't too bad then?

Thanks Ryan that makes more sense, I was thinking maybe they were still using the old windsors as I'm sure a fair few of the fords were AUs with BA/F panels on them.

Sorry to Hi-Jack the thread but is there any info as to what equipment is used for the suspension set up?

I would be interested to see what you guys use and whether it can be applied to my VE sedan?

Watching the Clipsal race on Saturday I heard one of the commentators remark that the new supercharged Fords were much quicker on the straight line than the un-supercharged Commodores.
He went on to say that for "parity" reasons this was going to need to be looked into.

yep that was when the FG came out of turn 7 slower then the Auto1 VE who was leading the race, and then preceeded to drive past the VE like it wasnt moving, and was at least 2 car lengths infront well before turn 8 although he said coyote engine, not supercharged

Yeah Todd, from memory I think you are correct,
I took it as supercharged because I reckon he was saying how much quicker the coyote engines were.
I did not think they had an un-supercharged version of the coyote

Coyote is the name given to the NA models in the USA. Australia doesn't use this name in our engines as they are supercharged. Hence carry the Miami name.

I've seen pics Garry Carsons utes engine bay. It's all NA under there

I recall hearing quite a few times that the fords with the live axel got the power down better out of corners so had a small edge there. Quicker corner exit speed certainly would help them appear quicker in a straight line too
