    L98 Oil Level

For the last few days, I've been trying to check the engince oil level after a few runs at Willowbank. Each time, the car has been cold and sitting on a level surface. I pull the dipstick out, wipe it and re-dip. When I pull the dipstick out, it makes a hollow sort of nice (like there is a hole in the pipe) and there is oil along the full length of the stick. I re-wipe, re-dip and same again. Any ideas what this means?

    Regards, Dan

not sure about the pop but having oil on the dipstick usually mean you have oil in the engine

My VX SS does that some times, I think when you withdraw the dipstick it pulls oil up the tube and adheres to the dipstick as you replace it, I remove the dipstick wipe it and put it aside for a few minutes then check it, I think it lets any oil in the tube drain away. Seems to work ok when I do that.
