About 15 years ago my old bunch of band mates were Chrysler mad. My Bass player's older Bro had a VH 770 with a 360.
Bright red like it was pure tinter in the paint, Cream Leather interior, Convo pros, full resto and fark it was awesome. Was built to run 11's, which at the time was super fast for a full trim street car with no blower. Had to laugh when little Bro got a hold of a shitbox brown VJ Ranger, dropped a 318 into it with a set of paceys, twin 3 inch dumpers in front of the diff, TQ30 cam, Thermoquad and manualised torqueflite. Cost him all up about $1800 and it blew the doors of GTS commos of the day running low 14's. Big springy seats and you got planted into them real quick. Sounded fantastic and he took great delight setting off car alarms in underground carparks shifting into 2nd at about 15 kmh with the engine ticking over about 400rpm. Good memories, great machines. Will be watching this thread too.
Awesome Ed!! Look forward to seeing some progress pics!!![]()
Well we had to try a crate motorCrate Motor.jpg
But decided to re build the second hand block instead.
Heaps of parts and work to go...
360 Block.jpg
Even the good ol 265 six with tripple webbers, these things used to haul...
Looking at a new set of Edelbrock heads, decent pistons, con rods intake manifold and all the rest of the gear, that's just the engine...
Then gearbox, diff and also have to make the body and interior nice.
Also thinking about converting to power rack and pinion steering but how big is the budget? That might have to go on hold for now.
The engine bay is pretty good rust wise, that rust hole you can see on the right hand side (under where the battery tray lives) is about the worst of it, the rest is surface rust.
The rest of the body has rust in the front and rear pillars, the boot floor has a bit also.
The rear quarter panels both have reasonable but repairable dents and both have some rust also.
We have a good rust free left door and another bonnet to go on as both of those panels have a fair amount of rust also.
This pic of the engine bay was meant to go in with the above post, see the rust hole on the passenger side. Engine Bay.jpg
I can't believe how rust free the plenham chamber is on this thing, not even a tiny hole.
The guy who used to own it treated it with fish oil since he got the car.
(I have the complience plate also)
lots and lots of metal work to be done. hope you have lots of patience.
