I don't love nor do I hate it. Kind of takes away the Monaro look, but if done on the right colour car with the right wheels it may look good.
your thoughts people?
i realise the monaro tail lights are what distinguish it from the commodores, along with the 5m tall rear window lol, but with the growing amount of people putting monaro lights on their vt-vx commodores, i though why not go the other way. hell it might be the only car out there with VT tail lights on it one day. i honestly love the look of the VT Concept Monaro that was put on show in 1998.
still contemplating whether to run the rear garnish or not

Yeh I like it, it doesn't look to bad, would need the garnish IMO. The colour of that car is what probably sets it off, maybe another colour might not suit
I say do it. If i ever bought a monaro i was going to do exactly this.
GT-I9100
I've seen it done here and it looks great. When I was following it took a little while to work out what was so different about the "VT" ahead of me. In the flesh it does look good!
I've always said if I ever had a monaro I'd do it too. Looks much better than the monaro lights.
iPad 2 HD
I like it too.
I'm a bit biased though.![]()
Another vote here for the VT Monaro. That's the way it was designed.
What colour is your V2?
Mick
Edit: answered that one myself. The red should look pretty good.

The vt garnish is too dated for my liking. The vx berlina lights and garnish could look good but
Looks good, really suits the lines of the Monaro.
I've seen it done once. Definitely something I'd consider.
The concept also had a standard VT SS front end... that would be pushing the envelope but I'd probably consider making a proper Commodore Coupe concept replica...
I ran my monaro in this form for a while and liked it. I even put my old VT S bar on it for a while. looked exactly the same as the concept vehicle. changed it all back to standard cause I had a mate that wanted to by my VT lights and garnish. Id say do it, I think it really suits it
I'm not a hoon, I'm just competitive
I think it just goes to show how great the uncluttered lines of the original VT were. Fashions change and people are always looking for the next look, but looking back you can see why it was so successful. It so easily transferred into a great looking coupe.
I think it's a very clean look, so if you don't care about what others think, do it! You can always reverse it in the future.
I loved the look of the concept, but i think the rear end suited the darker colours much better. Add to the fact that it also had VT rear bar and side skirts which may have integrated the look. In the red i like the VZ blacked out tail lights. IMO though, so go with what you like.
I agree that the Vt lights work better with the standard lights (hence my monaro lights). I have seen a vx with the standard solid garnish and the VT tail lights (just the outers), it looked pretty good, and something different. obviously there would be no reflectors or reverse lights so quite illegal but looked good anyway. have to say i love any 'hot-plate' style tail lights from skylines to monaro's so I'm biased i guess.
