Picked up the garnish and lights today. Only thing is the plastic trim that runs under the garnish. Should I try colour match it or make it chrome sorta like the VY executive boot?
im gonna give it a go. can get a brand new garnish from holden for only $130, plus some tail lights from a wreckers for the same price for a pair. i wont get rid of the original lights or garnish in case i dont like it. will post pics when its done, should be next week some time.
thanks for the opinions boys!

Hey bro, color match it.
if you're home tomorrow i'll swing by chris, dunno what colour its gonna be yet but will leave it as is til its painted
Hey man. now worries, I have some spray cans. It will look schmick
I've seen a few photos of Pontiac GTOs with Commodore tail lights, here's one from LS1GTO (link):
Personally I'm not a fan but props for giving it a go.
I reckon the dark blood red CV8-R tail lights are the best for any colour Monaro/Coupe.
yeh they're the VX lights, you're right, it doesnt look nice. this is the end product. will take better pics tomorrow. only difference was the rear wiring harness for the tail lights, they changed globe harness!! will take batter pics tomorrow once i get the other wiring harness and the driver side lights in...IMO i love it, always did love the VT look

By the way I actually made quite a few of those boot panels that you just replaced when I worked in a factory, I probably ruined more trying to schampfer the edge.
The wreckers had the plastic trim that goes under the garnish for $40. When I got there they had a red one too, so they gave me that one. Turns out its a VX clubsport trim with the 250 LS1 badge in the corner. Score for me!
here's the finished product lads. Very pleased how it turned out. took a good clay bar and polish to get it shining like it should. VT lights dropped straight in, needed to swap end harness with a VT harness on each side for the globes to plug in. I have the wiring loom for the reverse lights but will get a sparky to put them in, looks like a bit too much soldering for me.

Go down to Stratton and see the captain, he'll do it for you.
I like it, tbh if mine I would of left the centre garnish or maybe even done vx lights plus Calais/HSV garnish & removed the lion bage.
Looks good and certainly different from the others!
GM: Has millions of dollars and highly trained engineers.
Guy in his backyard: Has a hole saw.
I thought about leaving the garnish off and keeping it flat. Decided to run with it, I'll hook up the reverse lights and see how I feel after a few weeks. I love it so far, definitely turns heads
