strange noise coming from car

Over the last 8 months I have been chasing this noise that my vx hsv makes.
The car has done 177k and drives well, no rattles, no shudders and no alignment issue(I think).
The noise is like a wurrrrring noise coming from the passenger side of the car.
It mostly happens when turning right.
It happens at 30 and at 100.

I will try and record it tomorrow.
I have replaced front bearing and rear bearing on passenger side.

Anyone else got any ideas.
Gonna swap the tyres round tomorrow to see if that fixes it.

have had it with them where you would swear the noise is from say the left hand side but is in fact the opposite side. Check your drivers side wheel bearings/hubs

so coming home from the city on the freeway before and the noise appears.
now its happening when i drive straight.
when i say that it happens at 30 and 100, i mean anywhere between 30 and 100.

the noise is quite loud, its not a diff whine (also gotta fix that), it stops if i brake or if i accelerate a bit more.
it mostly happens when you are driving at a constant speed with little to no throttle.
the noise seems to be louder when i have more people or more stuff in the car.

i will speak with the mechanic on monday and see if its the other side of the car.
might just have to replace all of the bloody wheel bearings

I have the same noise in the Avalance. You explained it perfectly. Mine is intermittant so not there all the time.
I have checked bushings and they seem fine. Never thought of the wheel bearings. THe car has 90K on the clock.
I am planning to do upgrade all the bushings under the car in the comings weeks so it will be interesting to see if the issue goes away

My LHF wheel bearing was found to be knackered at the last rego check. Mechanic was really surprised as he said they usually make quite a racket and mine was quiet as a church mouse. THe sound he described sounded much like the one that you are describing. Float on front wheel bearing assembly is (according to the max ellery book I have) supposed to be 0.106mm (0.0042") when new and a maximum of 0.213mm or (0.0085"). It is measured from the top of the brake disc. Just ensure you disc is secured the hub or the reading will not be accurate.

ive got it saved as an mp3 and the file size is about 500kb.

you can clearly hear the noise in the file, its a bloody annoying noise in the file, and its worse in the car.

That is a different noise to what I have. Mine is more a vibrate and not a hum. My noise it very very faint too and that is loud. No idea

Not wrong that it is a strange sound.. but given its that loud, and it's clearly a rotational sound you'll just need to keep digging around those hub assemblies.
And just for a shot in the dark what about a dragging park brake shoe?

i just got back from checking in with the mechanic (i have a work car so he still has my car).
no solution just yet.
they have replaced the rear wheel bearing, machined the rear brake rotor, removed hand brake shoe to eliminate that.
they are going to start looking at the drive shaft and half shafts and maybe to see if the exhaust is rubbing on something (thats a long shot).
i will pass on the different theories and hope that we get it this time.
i have to give a thanks out to everyone that has helped out with hunting down this noise.

ps. the exhaust is a sureflo single 3.5"
