Fitting up coil overs to a VE

Hey guys, wondering if any mechanic can fit up coil overs or if its best to get a suspension shop to put them in?
    THanks

A mechanic can fit them mate, but they might charge you double, as it's not there every day job, go to a suspension place, at least they do them every day and can set them up and you'll be in and out type thing

haha Roonstain its probably best if i dont attempt it haha.
I might get them fitted locally and then take them to specialist to have them setup properly for the driving conditions?

Re: Fitting up coil overs to a VE

I had the guys at Protek (Black Diamond's shop) fit my H&R coilovers as they usually do all my tyre/suspension work for me but I'd have been equally happy to have the guys at Chev's do it. Having said that, I wouldn't use any old Joe Bloggs mechanic just around the corner to do it because the suspension is critical to how the car behaves on the road. Places like Chev's also do a lot of coilover fitting but your typical small local mechanic has possibly never done any. It's obviously not an overly difficult job, just I'd prefer to have someone experienced to do it. Obviously also needs a four wheel alignment afterwards.

the front is very easy, probably 20 mins per corner, the rear is a bit tougher and requires drilling top hats and a few nifty tricks.

I'd hand it to pedders, they can throw it in and align it in 1/2 a day and you will know it will be done right.

I had XA Extreme coilovers fitted to my MY09 WM Caprice

I purchased them at Pedders Taren Point NSW

The Pedders Extreme XA'c cost me $1868, the fitting $250 and a 4 wheel alignment was $132, So all up it was $2250

Re: Fitting up coil overs to a VE

I asked how low they thought the WM should be

They showed me a couple of utes and asked which one I liked

    We took it from there

They'll put it where you want it

They should definitely ask you and the whole point about coilovers is if after settling it doesn't sit as you want it's easy to alter.
