Re: Holden confirms US export deal for Commodore

Did I read it wrong or does the article begin by talking about a Commodore, the end by saying the 'smart money' is on a Caprice? Most speculation I have heard has suggested the latter.

Like you are going to swap out of your current G8, come SSV you slaved over.........I've seen those pics. Way too nice to consider swapping over.

This is just the same story that has already done the rounds in the motoring media previously.

Why don't they just wait until something is actually announced. This article was posted at 12:00am in anticipation and Holden has officially announced nothing today. That 'leak' obviously didn't work out unless they were talking USA time. Maybe tomorrow.

Why do news.com.au always use 7 year old VZ Commodore 'File Photos' for every article that has the word 'Commodore' in it???? So slack.

Genuine confirmation now, not much new info though. Quotes from GM Holden Director of Engineering.

Must have had an embargo until today... (story posted at 12:01am).

You are correct. I no longer own the SSV replica.

That is hot news, 50 posts from a population of 311,000,000.

Good luck to Holden but to put it into perspective, if it’s going to be a niche brand it won’t be noticed by the average buyer in the US where cars are priced to sell.

It will also have all the whistles and bells we have been missing on the local product. If they get the luxuries and the new VF here doesn’t, that’s a slap in the face for Aussie buyers.

I wouldn't rate the Nascar picture, Nascars don't bare much of a relationship with production cars, they are a (very loosely) shilouette formula. Look at the C pillar, its much lower, more like a V2 Monaro than a VE.

Good news al the same. Maybe it will mean the Commodore survives beyond 2018...

    Cheers, Matthew

Matthew you’re right, Nascar’s requires quite a bit of imagination when it comes to resembling the cars they are based on. (Based, now that's an untruth in itself)
In fact the stickers they use to resemble car features look like they’ve been designed by a child.

My comment was a joke because it’s a two door, maybe it’s the new VF Monaro?
I added the ‘A’ Pillar comment a few minutes later because I love to share my wild sense of humour with the world.
I’ll have to start using more of these when I type.

I’m with you on the continued survival, let’s hope the Yanks jump on board and buy them by the millions. I’d hate to see a local V8 disappear.
