    Re: Leather Retrim thread

I am looking at either re-trimming my current seats or buying a replacement set.

I am really interested in a cream full interior from 4blok on ebay:

    http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Statesman...item2ebc46f9a7

but the rear seat looks different from the one I have in my car.

The seat in it now has more like individual buckets on the rear bench, whereas the interior I am looking at has what appears to be a flat bench?

Does anyone know if there is actually a difference here, or is just the way i'm looking at it?

The other option is to get a full set of covers made by proseat, another ebay shop:

    http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI....X:eRTM:AU:1123

they are quoting $1850 for Coulson front seats in Italian Leather and $695 for rear covers, door trims and enough leather to cover the console lid.

Has anyone used proseat before? Are they any good?

Nobody I know has ever used them, so input would be much appreciated?

I used the second option in dazz's post above.
I read all the emails first as well and there are some round that are positive as well.
I also used the paypal option to pay him just in case things did not work out
The seats are awesome and are covered in proper leather (the guy does other types of "leather" as well)
The service he provides is appaling
I got the seats over a week after he promised them
The other bits i got over six weeks after I was told I would get them.
It seems if he has it in stock you may get it reasonably quickly but if he has to make it it could take ages
He also says that people can fit them themselves possibly if you are a trimmer you could.

hmmmm definately food for thought there, I am a bit confused though, someone says that he is in the western suburbs of melbourne, but on ebay it says he is in brisbane....? If I do buy from him I will be using paypal so I will have some security I guess.

so..... I decided on getting my re-trim done by proseat and have ordered it.

The guy didnt have the pattern for the bolstered rear seat so he asked me to send mine to him so he could copy them. I sent them on the 27th of April and he still hasnt recieved them!

Foolishly I didnt send them registered post and Australia Post tells me there is nothing they can do about it until 15 days after they were send plus the "delivery timeframe", which they tell me is 4 days.

So I have to wait until wednesday next week just so they can launch an investigation to try and find them! They reckon if they havent been delivered they will return to me, but who knows how long that will take?

So i'm now looking for anyone that has one of those bolstered rear seat bases that would be willing to sell it just in case mine dont turn up.

Does anyone know if the seat backs are different with that style of base....?

I know im a goose for not sending them registered post.... lesson learned!

Any help will be much appreciated.

    Re: Leather Retrim thread

I had many "creative" answers to why the rest of my deal took over two months to arrive.

Lucky it was only the console lid cover and gear lever cover so not critical.

My impression was if it is no stock you get it straight away (well within 2 weeks) if it is something to be made up / customised it will take forever.

I am still happy with my seats

I thought I recognised his work there
Did you do the gear lever boot as well?
I have the material to do that just not sure if I want to tackle it.
If you did some guidance would be great
I also have a sheet of leather for the console lid as well

i actually got the boot done by my mum....She was a master dress maker(in her 80's now).... To do the boot is quite easy...

    1. open glove box

    2. Remove screw under ash tray/console tray..

    3. open glove box...Pry centre console with screw driver(gently)...

    4. unplug power windows...

    5. with console removed undo the two bolts at the base of the shifter...

    6. This will allow you to remove shifter & boot in one piece..

    7. The shifting knob is glued on.. hold base of shifter and turn in opposite direction...Break glue without hurting knob...

    8. Change boot ....glue...reverse order...

For the console i would buy some spray glue...Apply to both leather you want on it and console...Apply and staple the leather to the underside.... Have trimmed things before just line up the stiches on the console and staple one corner at a time..work towards centre...Pull it tight...also im assuming you have a vy even if u dont i'm sure i have console diags...ill post as much as i can and happy to answer any questions if ya get stuck...Sorry if i'm slow pretty sick over the last two days...When i finish i'll post em...
