Cleaner windscreen! yes please
http://smh.drive.com.au/motor-news/r...524-1z6v7.htmlCar registration stickers are being scrapped by the NSW government.
The initiative means that from January 1 car owners will no longer have to attach the sticky registration labels to their windscreens.
Instead, police will verify if cars are registered or not by checking number plates with computers.
Cleaner windscreen! yes please
We have been this way in west oz for a couple of years. Unregistered cars on the roads has gone up due to people forgetting to au there rego. No trigger anymore if they forget to check there mail or move house. I like the no sticker on the windscreen and always hated changing them.
South Australia no longer has them either..
bout time ,
and after mr policeman said he'd let me off with a warning for having it in the tinted area ,
because he's not highway patrol ........
yeah about time.
although i havent actually had one on my windows for quite a while anyway.
Personally, I've never had a problem in the rego stickers - only takes a couple of minutes to remove/affix & your done for another 12 months. By removing the need to display a sticker, the authorities will now be using plate recognition cameras to determine if a vehicle is registered. I know they use them at the moment - but the cynic in me, tends to think that soon all roadside speed/red light cameras will be upgraded with new "rego scanning" ability.... it's also a pretty good way to track a vehicle.... welcome to the world of big brother where everything you do is under surveillance.
PS: I've got no problems in the authorities getting unregistered drivers off the roads.
in vic the lable is sent to you and you can put it on the window without paying for it so i dont see the point in it at all realy.
next year while to wait.. were ok except when the colour didn't match the car
When everything's coming your way, you're in the wrong lane.
really can't see the big deal with having to put a label on each year. Also good to know if a vehicle is dumped and unregistered to call the council etc. However i heard on the radio today that anyone can get on the RTA website and check if any car is registered or not which is ok i suppose.
But what if I have to drive someone else's car or drive company fleets etc and don't have internet access, how will I check if it is registered there and then?
Awesome news, no more dirty brown or orange rego stickers lol.
Don't really see the point to this accept the State Gov will save $$ & not pass it on to the motorist!! Typical of this conservative Coalition excuse we have in NSW.
