I have a 2007 VE Calais V and a year ago bought some SS wheels and tyres so that as well as getting new tyres I would have a full size spare wheel.
The original Calais wheels were kept in the carport under a tarpaulin but some moisture must have got in.
The mags which were perfect when taken off the car now have a series of scratches which appear to be a break down of the clear coat on the wheels.
My questions are whether anyone is aware of the problem and why it has happened and secondly whether they can be repaired to original condition at a reasonable cost and where. I am in SA.
I suspect it could be expensive in which case I just chuck them.
If something has etched into the clear and it's not very deep, I would be lightly sanding it and respraying then clear over it.
