Is this too much to ask? Monaro pricing

    Hey guys,

First off, I know this sort of thread based on 'what is my car worth' has been overdone. So I apologise and would appreciate honest opinions.

I'm in a situation where I have two cars and am considering selling both or selling one and keeping the other. Anyway in short, I'm confused.

I can usually figure this out for myself but because there is such a huge gap in what people are asking for their monaros I'd like some opinions

on what mine is possibly worth.

I wouldn't sell it for any less than $33,000. It's an 04 cv8r with 46,000 kms (service books etc). Bbs wheels. Full df exhaust and tune. It's literally in brand new condition, minus 3 or so stone chips on the bonnet.

Is this price unreasonable for a car that's 8 yrs old? What would you pay for one with these kms if you wanted one?

    Cheers

The proof would be in the pudding, when you either do or dont get enquires on it. Look on carsales and find similar quality cars and base a price off that.

A car is in the end worth as much as someone is willing to pay for it.

Personally I get sick of people asking me if my boat is for sale, or I should sell it(because I never have a chance to use it). I dont want to sell it as it has sentimental value however I have now put a figure on it and if someone is will to pay that for it then they can have it. However I am not what you call a motivated seller
    I'm not a hoon, I'm just competitive

In my opinion, and having tracked Monaro prices for about 6 months a couple of years ago when my daughter was looking at getting one (ended up with a VY2 SS) not many sold except in the lower price ranges. Also depends if you need to sell quickly or not.

As comparison see o z l s x c.com.au/ozlsxforum/showthread.php?520-VZ-Monaro (remove spaces) which Andy (AKA Fishla on here too) bought recently I believe (but am not sure) for a bit less than what the OP said was his low price.

32 to 35 k is about average but remember as we all know they are getting on and are pretty untraceable these days.

Honestly who cares. I find this forum is the worst I have seen for saying someone's car isn't worth anything. It's like everyone is trying to drive down the prices of commodores. At a time when this forum was saying a VY SS was worth no more than $15k, my mate sold his average condition, high km one for $19,500 the same day he listed it on carsales. When people on here said my dad should be asking $12k for his old VU ute, he sold it for $20k without even advertising it.

You have nothing to lose by asking whatever you want. IMO put it on, if nothing happens after a while, lower it. Unless you are really desperate to sell, who cares what others have their advertised for.

It will come down to time, and if you find the right person.... I looked long and hard for my Monaro, looked at countless shi7 heaps that advertised as "immaculate"... 33k is a bit steep in my opinion as you can get CV8Z's cheaper.

I ended up getting (granted its not an R) an 03 Cosmo Purple CV8, 98,000, Auto with every option ticked (sunfoof, reverse parking sensors, sill plates etc. etc.) that had only been 1 owner and had full log book service by HSV since new... and I paid 22k

Did a bit of research on carsales and I noticed that it's pretty hard to find one for under $27,000 with under 60,000kms. So there's hope if I end up attempting to get 33. I honestly would rather keep it, but sometimes I feel it's a waste of a perfectly good car just sitting there. I may throw it up and leave it on c/sales until the right buyer comes along (who really wants a clean example which hasn't been mistreated). if he/she doesn't, I'll just keep it and get rid of my mx5.

Thanks for all the replies guys. Much appreciated.

Just gotta put it up and wait for the right person to buy it, i'm sure there is someone out there looking for a immac low kms Monaro and they'll be aware of what they're worth.

I'm having the same problem with my VY Clubbie (charged) I know it's worth what i'm asking, but just need to wait for the right person to come along, may take a few months, just depends how quick you want to get rid of it.

Re: Is this too much to ask? Monaro pricing

I agree with VZ_V8 - some of these comments are really talking down the value of a car.

33K for a car that is pretty limited in production, and less are on the roads every day is good buying.

As I keep saying, mine has about 3 marks in it, the interior is immaculate (as in NO leather wear) and is as tight as the day it rolled off of the line makes it essentially a brand new car (barring the build plate). Someone looking to buy mine would probably be similar to me - looking for a weekender that is mint, or on the opposite end, looking for something essentially new but a bit unique that ha a lot of life left in it.

Looking at your post though, if I had to keep the MX5 or a CV8, the Mazda would be getting the tap on the ass and sent on it's way. There will never be another Monaro, at least not in the form that we have know and love (from the 60's until now - a big v8 in a 2 door body)...

Purchased a CV8Z in March with 80,000kms well looked after for 30k.

Unless you like men over women, how is this a hard choice. Mx5 should be gone and drive the wheels off the monaro
