If it is the same one I have seen a few times they sure have put a bulldozer to good use clearing the testing ground (perfect square),must have trucked all the scrub and topsoil away as there are no mounds to be seen, hope they cleared out the native animals 1st
Also do we really know who? was driving the car and were they actually making the track shown at the end,the joys of television and editing

Last timed event was October last year when you were a mere 1 second quicker (not even in your own car because your Subaru wasn't performing or broke down) in much more powerful and highly developed car.

I most certainly have driven and owned/leased many V8 Commodores, starting from a VS S-pack ute, to a gold VU SS, then a Hot House green VY SS, then a White VZ thunder ute, then a series 1 VE SS-V ute and now a series 2 VE SS-V ute in Alto Grey. If I find time this arvo, I'll start a build thread on it. I have respect for all makes and models, turbo or non-turbo - I look forward to checking out Listy and DR-vyss' rides

Please not let us go off topic again Martin - let us leave this thread to discuss the new FT-86.
Hmmm, very hairy chested ride indeed, the Yaris or the Lancer, not sure! Great to see enthusiasts bag-out other enthusiast choices. So as an 'experienced racer' you are going to tell me that your succession of utes will eat a nicely balanced RWD sportscar on a track, other than on the straight of course. A number of years ago I ran motorsport for the HSV owners club Victoria. I can tell you that at a track like Winton, many V8 Commodore drivers were surprised, shocked even, by how competitive a gaggle of MX5's were against them. But what would I know, I bought an 86.

Could be a bit of fun with a 1000cc bike donk in one, make a wide body kit for it, or could be cheating death. I'd hate to see one after finding a wall.

I'm still waiting for the rest of Oz to catch onto the Hyundai excell series, that's a blast to muck around in

Found this on carscoop today, I know its not the FT-86 but being the subaru it will be close enough,

Don't know how true it is but someone has taken their subaru to the german autobahn to speed test it with a result of 147mph (speedo figure)

There is a guy running around in Adelaide with a little Smart car with a Hayabusa 1300cc turbo bike engine something like this.

Interesting note, the GT model is not actually $29,990 (GTS: $35,490) drive away; it's actually $34,190.08 (GTS: $39,855.08). Still cheap for what you get. I thought they tried to stop advertising cars without onroads etc?
