Fact is in this country too many people think holdens are something they're not they have such a huge following that holden could put their badge on steaming dog shit and they would out sell fords.....bogan power rules supreme.
HTC One XL 2
Your clearly a member of the wrong forum mate.....
No matter what you spend in the Ford/FPV range you still get a basic looking taxi. The interiors vary minimally between a yellow cab and the top end FPV range. You pay a premium for a "premium" product and get bugger all to distinguish them.
It's been said so many times before, it's a great engine and gearbox but that's it. It's floaty in the front and rear and has a near on 15 year old chassis design that is massively overpowered for anything but a straight line run. Let's not evens start on the shite driving position.
The E3 has well, like i said subjective looks, love it or hate it doesn't matter they still sell the crap outta them.
Clearly you have little knowledge of some of Holden's unpopular models over the years. And trust me, there have been quite a few! Just like pretty much every mainstream manufacturer has a few stinkers. You can't always guarantee success in what is really a mugs game trying to predict the future.
As for "bogan power rules supreme", the very definition of a car bogan in many ways is someone that compares the length of their dyno d!ck to the opposition or which one is a billionth of a second faster over the quarter. Who are the main people comparing dyno d!ck lengths in this thread?
Ford fanboys.
The more pragmatic members will be thankful that we currently have two brands able to offer so much for relatively modest amounts of money. One is "better" in some areas, and the other is "better" in other areas. As just about every competing product is like...![]()
I know the taxi thing gets thrown around a lot but the reason it looks like a taxi is because it is. I don't know how it's an insult anymore, I'd like to see other car's do 500k+ kms and still hold up. Series 1 VE's were nothing to write home about interior wise it lacked big time and a M3 interior is 99% the same as a 320i interior. It's how it is these days. Maybe the E3 is the one looking a bit silly with it's wannabe g-meters and volt meters. Don't shoot me just saying..![]()
It's not just that Macca, if you can spend more than 20mins giving a mates car a bootful and actually spend a decent amount of time in the falcons there is plenty more to talk about.
I'll say it straight that I won't miss my Senator, granted its a Z series and now nearly 6yrs old, if the falcon is as prehistoric as some have mentioned than why is it leaps and bounds ahead of a VZ? A stock FG xr6 is a much nicer drive IMO. Yeah it doesn't turn the tires in first two gears, it's not a v8 but to effortlessly do everything else and better maybe too much to handle for some.
Then to compare to the VE SV6/SS that bounces around, horrid brakes, rubbish 6spd auto, ordinary stereo actually ordinary dash layouts......
I'm not set out to rubbish Holden's but in my experience the falcon is underrated and most of what I have read in this thread so far is broken record stuff from the AU days, it's now 2012 find something new to harp on about.
GM: Has millions of dollars and highly trained engineers.
Guy in his backyard: Has a hole saw.
The only thing putting me of buying one is the longevity of the brandbut in saying that my next V8 won't be a Holden either
unless they start making some rapid changes.
Yes the Ve is a nice car to drive and I got it at a bargain same as my VY, but if you want bang for buck out of an Aussie car it has to got to the FPV from what I have seen
If the VF is going to be what I hope it is then yes I might buy another one

New September Top Gear mag has an article on the GT-RSpec. In typical TG mag form it doesn't really say much though...
Thats the point mate it is 2012 and they are using the same chassis as near on 15 years ago, the VE SV6/SS is also a much stiffer car in both chassis and damping compared to that of the XR's hence they handle alot better, although they don't suffer the same crash through as the XR's over deep ruts which are softly damped in comparison.
Both SV6 and SS have crap brakes agreed but according to Wheels magazine the XR's are worse.
Interior design and looks well everyone likes something different, i much prefer the height of the MkII Infrotainment screen and the set point cruise dual info screen in the dash compared to the VE, seen the inside chequer cloth in the XR's. NVH are also supreme in the Ford. The 6-speed auto well the ZF is an awesome bit of hardware much better in auto than the Holden although IMO the VE is better in sequential mode.
The Ford also has the split fold rear seat which really shirts me off with the VE, although with 3 baby seats in the back seat they fit much better than they do in the Falcon (i tried).
Anyway that's my opinion and like ar$eholes everyone has one.
For my next car i'll look at all the options again HSV,FPV and even the new Chrysler 300 SRT8 (great value)
Cheers
You STILL don't get the whole point of what has been said macca.
A more powerful engine is only one aspect of the car. If you are a bogan that is only obsessed with ego boosting dyno graphs, quarter mile time slips and dragging other bogans off at traffic lights then yes, this is the "best" car currently on sale, so everyone else should pack up their operations and admit defeat!
For everyone else, there are many other factors that make a car something you hand your money over to buy, and let's be honest, Ford/FPV have been behind in these other areas for many years. HSV simply gives you far more for your money than FPV does.
Most buyers see past your narrow focus priorities, so still, FPV struggles to pump the numbers out the door they expected to do. There's more to life that comparing d!ck sizes fella...![]()

Guess im a bogan then. The engine is probably the most important aspect I look at. Hell this forum exists because of an engine. So guess alot of us are bogans. While everything else is also important. For me I can compromise more on styling than I would on mechanicals.
I don't think HSV give more for the money at all. If anything FPV represent far better bang for buck as the drive train mechanicals are so much better. Even if one were to argue over styling, handling etc the differences there aren't night and day to make up for that engine.
The funniest thing is, once again here comes captain davo planet holden to argue against a car he has never even experienced outside of a toilet cubicle with a motor mag in hand.
