    VCM or Dus Otracai

Hi all , I'm looking at putting an intake on the new Thunder ute . I previously had a Dus Mk 1 on the old VE ute and had no problems with it .

I'm leaning to a Maf version ( purely for possible Dealer/ Warranty issues , after past history ) so I've come down to the VCM or Dus . The VCM looks great with the infill panels but the Dus has the access to filter advantage .

I' m after the opinions of people who have either fitted on the cars with the pros and cons .

    Thanks

Hey Buddy , couldn't find too many replies on the newer MAF versions since they have been out for less than 6 months !!!

Thanks for your input . A lot of us who might only have a limited knowledge of what's available out there , rely on the help of people who actually use products and value that assistance , instead of being belted with the search threat!!!

Sorry buddy, but at the end of the day there are quite a few on the market, some people like one brand some like another, there have been plenty of arguments about it and they have been on the market for a number of years not just the last 6 months.
Some like VCM, some like DUS and some like Ramjet and others as well.
They all work, it is just really down to personal choice.

I have a DUS v3 MAF OTR now in my SSV ute, basically just changed from the v2 mafless so if I did get pulled over for noise or whatever and needed to get a RWC it was one less thing I had to worry about. I dropped about 3rwkw IIRC going from the mafless to MAF version, but of course that's not noticeable SOTP. As far as comparisons go, from the little I've seen they're both great OTRs so just go for the one you like the look of best.

Hey, I must say sorry to you, I know I have read plenty of threads about these choices but I can't find any of the threads
using the search button myself tonight.
I thought I would be able to throw a stack of threads to quote at you and I cannot find one.
    Sorry again.

I've had both the current VCM and the latest DUSPEED units. Performance differences are unnoticeable. Maintenance and filter seal is better on the DUSPEED. I went from VCM to DUSPEED and havent looked back. It was mainly due to maintenance that I changed.

Great Pics Wonky , i want to go the MAF version because i copped a bit of " You"ve had your car tuned" line from Holden re a warranty issue . That argument only lasted 2 hours before they relented , but IF i have a similar problem down the track , for the sake of a couple of kw , i think the MAF version is better .

Did yours come already painted ?

    Cheers

Thanks calais190 , that's exactly the feedback i was looking for . My biggest concern with the Dus MK 1 that i had previously was that it sometimes would move in towards the throttle body , which meant the seal wasn't there . So it has improved by the sound of it on the MK 3 . The screw down cover might work better as well .
    Cheers

No problem. I wish people weren't so one eyed sometimes and actually told people their real experiences as opposed to which product they "think" will get them another kw over the other. Anyway, The filter is rock solid. It seems to seal very tightly along the back of the filter against the OTR housing which is where a leak would be possible. I've been told that I worry to much because even if the engine does take in some dust and a few bugs, its not going to damage anything. But i figure the stock filter is setup in such a way that almost nothing makes it past the filter, why cant we expect the same from a performance product?

I like the look of the Orsom unit, I think either that or the Duspeed depending what look you like better...

I am going to say with the Orrsom unit I have a MAF tune and love it. The induction roar sounds quite meaty, and certainly makes the exhaust roar under load that many of us love so much. Driven through plenty of decent storms and and the filter is in great shape. I think it is a quality unit, but I imagine that they all are within punching distance of each other. Looks and budget will determine which one to get.

Mine cost $50 to be painted in Poison Ivy when it was fitted.
