Hey Nick, has your Mrs got a 5 yet coz when my wife and I talk on our 5's to each other the voice quality is miles better than normal. Doesn't happen if I ring a landline or any other mobile from the 5, only from 1 to the other... I was reading a while ago about Telstra implementing some HiDef style voice service and was wondering whether the 5s can utilise it????
Yep, I set her 5 up over the weekend ... I noticed the improvement in quality too, hopefully some of that stuff starts moving across all phones, fixed & mobile!

    The New iPhone

Camera is better on the iPhone too. So hardware wise it's the better phone clearly and software being subjective

Oh good, sorta, thought it was just me. Only the hilux has Bluetooth was wanting to try another vehicle. Maybe it's worth reporting? I did it via Apples website.

Actually there's Bluetooth in the Mack I will try that when next in it.

The One X and Iphone 5 are pretty bloody close. Colour wise they're probably on par with each other, but the Iphone 5 just nudges it out with the shots being slightly sharper overall.

The Samsung shots are washed out and poor contrast. They still look reasonably sharp, but they're not a patch on the other 2.

Maybe they should just buy and be done with it.

Googles maket Cap is 245 Billion and Apple has over 115 Billion in cash reserves alone (Apples Market Cap is 647 Billion).

Fwiw I used my phone in an 09 hilux yesterday. Bluetooth worked fine for streaming audio, but shat itself when trying to do anything else, it did that with my old phone too. That's the headunit in the ute though as I've used my old phone in other hilux's before without issue. This one is just farked and I'm not organising getting it fixed when I'm the only one that uses the Bluetooth but hardly ever use the ute.

Yeah I know what you mean, it can be hit and miss. I'd say its a poor compression technology. I've used u711 and G729 a lot and they work great even in 3rd world countries on pathetic Edge networks. Just viber has nice quality if you have the bandwidth.

Has worked for a fair while with my Samsung's. Depending on who I'm calling but it worked with my Galaxy Nexus and continues with my S3. It would even work calling my old man on his Nokia E72.

    Bit of info here

Tomtom does voice, speed limits, cameras etc the same as it does on a full feature navigator.

    The New iPhone

Drop test. New iPhone 5 has done really well here. I've personally dusted a rear on my iPhone 4 in the past. New one certainly appears tougher. O and it beats the plastic galaxy too

I watched this the other day wow what a difference between the Iphone 4 > 5, i've seen 4's dropped from as little as 300mm to the ground and watched them shatter, as for the SIII it's definately not as solid as my HTC was and the plastic cover on the rear is flimsy. It also depends alot on the part of the phone it lands, although i suppose the test was done in a relatively even manner the SIII did seem to land on it's edge rather then the flat back like the IPhone.

Realistically though if your farking stupid enough to not put a $500+ phone in some sort of protective case well more fool you! I keep my SIII in a Case Mate 'Defender' case and have actually dropped it just a little over 3 meters, with the case, not a scratch and not problems with operation which is more than i can say about the heart when i did it!
