Why not just open up an industrial area or back end section of road and let boys be boys - limited rules. YOU BENT IT...YOU PAY FOR IT. Sure we could argue the lebo, muslim, etc debate and who are dickheads and who is not, but I agree in defecting vehicles if the do not meet road worthey status.

The ones that used to dump oil outside the caltex and go crazy set the tone of where that was going, about 10 years now isnt it?

There would always be some pretty decent cars there every friday/saturday, now you dont see them anywhere.

I think I have some pics of my R32 up on my Skylines Australia profile, mine did look good for a while, but black car + very sunny, hot dusty climate was starting to take its toll badly by the time I sold it. Would probably get another for a weekender and put an LS in it one day.

I think having a clean looking and not obviously unroadworthy looking car helps too. Around here, it's more so VS / R33 / Silvia owners who are driving like dicks in town and consequently getting hammered more than anyone else lately.

When you get a chance it would be great to see either way Dont forget the R32!

The poor R33's everywhere seem to be owned by people who hate them... Silvias, well theyre always driven in that manner, and VS ... mang mang is the natural tone there lol ...

Maybe its cause everything these days is computerised rather than mechanical like the "good old days"?? Apart from the servicing and audio gear, I dont tinker at all with the LS2

Or, more often than not, the attitude of the driver getting pulled over dicates the "mood" of the cop looking at it.
Nit picking canaries for no reason are really the exception to the rule. "Urban myth" is alive and well on this subject, with many of those "hard done by" leaving out the finer details of how they themselves came across or behaved. If you have a big mouth and a bad attitude, you aint gunna win this battle...

Re: Anyone get caught up in Operatn Kilowatt??

i've seen enough nit picking defects even when the attitude test has been passed to know that sometimes it is just the officer's mood. I've been moved on with the threat of defect / RWC plenty of times without the cops looking at any of the cars (and yes i comply without argument because im not a ****ing idiot lol)

I've also seen smart arses and hotheads get hammered, usually good for a laugh! I also laugh when people try to tell me that they cant do you for this or that, I tell em to argue the toss n let me know how it turns out.

Lately I've also seen a bit of a pattern of those who drive around town like dicks, drifting in the industrial estates, street racing in town etc getting "random breath tests" at random times, which does not surprise me in a place this size.

One might suggest that the best way to avoid "nitpicking" defects is to not put yourself and your car into situations that keep getting it checked over. Truly "random" inspections aren't that common. Most occur due to something that catches the member's eye, a familiar car, or a known problem in that exact area with certain types of cars and drivers.
    Just sayin.

This weekend there is a show and shine happening up my way. There will be a plethora of hotted up cars, many many defects on offer to the keen Mr HWP man, but guess what. My guess is that not one ticket will be handed out. Yes there will be Police around, probably many. But not one ticket will be handed out. When you work out 'why' you will know the answer to the many questions asked in this thread.

If I lent you our local cockhead HWP cop for the weekend , I PROMISE you defects would be handed out.

It is not always bad attitudes that get defects and fines, some cops are just total tools. I Know and respect a lot of police up here, i deal with them thru work a bit. But this one bloke i wouldnt

brake if he walked in front of me.

Re: Anyone get caught up in Operatn Kilowatt??

For most parts i have not too much trouble unless i was being a bit of a dickhead...but those times are gone... I once pulled up in the garage(might i add private garage) at work...Got out of my ute and didnt even notice a police bike had followed me in...He didnt even say a word.... walked up beside my car and begun inspecting my wheels... I walked up to him and asked if there was a problem?... He said "i'm just working out how many defects i will be issuing on this car"...i replied "you'll find that hard everything on this car is engineered"...After producing my papers he got his tape measure out!!!!! By this stage i had enough... I locked my car and told him "i'm sorry i have to work if you wish to stay you will have to ask security to let you off the premises"....he replied "don't worry ill be here a while"... Little did he know he followed me into a jewish college that was under lockdown due to the premier making a speech.....I saw him standing there with a whole bunch of black suits... then being searched...HA HA... In spite he issued me a defect for oversize wheels!....(which i had engineered).... I chose to have the matter herd at court..... After the copper not turning up three times they threw it out and was refunded a cheque for cost of having the defect cleared as this was over a period of three months....The registrars last words were "i'm sick of these arseholes on their high horses that cant even be bothered to turn up"

No the local cops are fairly predictable thankfully with their TMU operations, so there's times when it's best to just keep it home.

That said, i haven't had a single drama with the VZ in the year or so I've had it. Had the odd one follow me around for a while though. I do wish they would ping some of the obnoxiously loud Harleys getting around - being deafened when passed at 60 is ridiculous.

I also know what you're saying, I'm just saying that its not always warranted

I dont doubt your point. The unfortunate reality is that there are total tools in EVERY occupation and Policing is not exempt. I know of a circumstance whereby one HWp officer would target other Police! Very popular chap that one!
