    AFM & diff gears

I'm hoping some one may be able to offer some advice. I've got a 2010 Calais with AFM. I've had a mafless tune done and it has a Duspeed OTR. I don't want to put an exhaust on it as it my wife's daily driver and I don't want to take away from the Calais feel and quietness. But i am considering a diff. Do you think diff gears would cause droning etc with AFM?

Probably not with the factory exhaust.. However I don't honestly think I've heard of anyone going down that path and retaining a stock exhaust..

It'll pick your cruising RPM up.. So why not go for a drive somewhere and try a bit of cruising at higher RPM (this also means higher speed, just try to isolate engine noise and road noise).

It will reduce load. So any drone will be reduced in any case

Is AFM still active with the mafless tune? Most tuners don't keep the AFM active with mafless tunes

Yeah it is active. The tuner was able to incorporate it so it comes on more often.

    Re: AFM & diff gears

The diff gears won't cause any droning, we turfed the single 2.92 in our calais for of a HSV 3.27 lsd makes it more spirited & depending on how
it's driven will hold the afm in longer.

Hi mate, I am one of those unusual people that did go down this path. I changed over the headers and cats and retained the stock exhaust. I wanted the extra power, but not the extra noise. The difference in sound is barely noticeable until u take it over 4k rpm then it's a bit louder. I had a VCM otr, 3.45 diff gears and a maf tune done in a Ve ssv auto ute and ran a 12.9 a Calder in full street trim with 20" wheels. Not sure how much extra a catback exhaust would get me (if any) other than more noise.

    Cheers

Same. 3.27 is a great compromise IMO.
Still got the 2.92 diff in the shed. I should sell them.
