I find it funny that in the 13 years since the VT II GTS 300, that power figures have only risen 8.3%. Yet actual 1/4 times have remained the same.

Yeah Tom, power figures have only risen by 8.3% but weights of the car have risen by more than 8.3%

That's true. Quick search - VT GTS 1702kg vs E3 GTS 1845kg so roughly 8.4%

You're right! I assumed given everybody refers to the VE as a lard arse that it was much heavier , but VT2 Calais V8 1648kg, VE Calais (not V) V8 1790kg, so not much over 8% increase.

Thanks for that mate, I was thinking the gap was even larger but I was thinking weight of a VX or VY SS.
I actually thought the VE GTS was heavier than 1.845 and I was thinking comparing the weight of a VX SS which is only around 1,605KG's
(just from memory and I don't care if I am out by a few KG's)

    eg.
you buy a 25 Year Anniversary GTS with 225kw (the highest Kw in the HSV range in that current model)
and 6-12 months later they bring out clubsports, grange, hsv utes, with the same power out put.

    Yes and No?......
If you buy a new GTS how long do you feel you are entitled to be king of the castle for?

Very true, a few small mods can easy fix that anyway.
I actually still don't like the looks of the E3 HSV's with all the drl's as much as I like the earlier model VE HSV's.

My take on it is you buy the car you like, and add the features you want. Bigger motor, more power, better brakes are all options.

I used to care 20 years ago, but not anymore, I think its called growing up.

I'm still happy with my old bomb. No desire to upgrade.

Same here, more than happy with my VX SS no intention of updating for a while.

I take your point, especially now older V8s are worth sfa, but having had a VY, two VZs and now two VEs (all V8s) IMO the VE is so far ahead in terms of pleasure to drive I'd hate to go back.

150 kg heavier is a LOT! i can feel the difference having the spare tyre out of my boot of my VZ.

    ps. VZ HRT clubby with ls2 ~ 1643kg. = Best power/weight (except the ls7 w427)
    (ls2 is 5% lighter than ls1)

    im happy.
