I find it hard to believe that Holden, with such a downward trend in sales, would go an increase the price of everything to an extent it's an issues for potential buyers

I was only just getting back into V8SC's to after a long time feeling disillusioned with the sport, might be a deal breaker again. Maybe I'll follow Nissan just for the racing..

Love the new VF, great upgrade from the what appears to be a now very dated VE...

I think i'm going to be disappointed with the "sports" versions...if they retain the classy look of the Calais etc it will lose its aggressiveness, i'm hoping the SSV goes that subtle aggressive look..simialr to a Jaguar XFR-S 2013 model...

    +1.
I ain't seen anything on pricing, & in this market, the last thing any manufacturer would want to do is dramatically increase pricing.
So, whilst a nominal increase is reasonable with any new model, I don't see any big price hike at all.
    Cheers, Pickles.

Maybe the economic reality of having to recoup the development cost in a condensed timeframe has forced their hand. The big question is, if the introduction of VF doesn't arrest the declinig sales, what is their break even point in terms of production numbers. Will they keep producing them until 2016 regardless or will they call time if the numbers no longer add up.

I really like what they have done with the VF.

As for pricing, I cant see them increasing theRRPof the current VE for the VF. Just means for an SS, you'll have to pay 55k or whatever it is rather than the current run out deal pricing

I like it when a new Commodore and Falcon is released. As a kid it was always a big event for car people.

When they have sold off most of the VE's in stock I think you will find they will discount the VF
They will certainly want to unload all the old models

Re: VF Commodore revealed next week.

There are some stupid comments going around on the internet about the VF. One was, "I have a VE Berlina in my driveway, I see no difference. No wonder Holden is going to shut down". Another was, "If you want to see someone do something stupid, spot a Commodore and wait 30 seconds and you wont be disappointed". I'd really love to shove some peoples' heads down the toilet

If they charge $55k for a VF SS they will not sell. I have seen VE SS advertised for about $40k and SV6 for $33k or even less.

They have to take into consideration that large car sales are shrinking and will need to price it accordingly to move stock.

    I am thinking initially about $46k for a SS or about $37k for a SV6 .

I personally will be in the market for a manual VF SV6. If I cannot negotiate a price of about $36k after its been out for a few months I will not buy one.

Wow, where are you reading these? They sound like comments on some of the aussie newspaper websites... usually full of idiots and trolls just trying to get a rise out of people.

I think the reaction in general has been vastly positive, more so than usual. Even the thread on the fordforums seems about 50/50, maybe leaning on the positive (and that's pretty notable).
There's obviously a few people the design doesn't gel well with, and that's fine. Can't please everyone. Some of the real nay-sayers are really grasping at straws though... I feel sorry for Holdens social media team. Check the first reply on Holdens Google+ post:

    Just... wow...
There is really a vicious hate-streak for locally made product in this country, and it's really f**king sad. Both Holden and Ford build fantastic, world class cars. Cars that are reviewed favourably by professional motoring press locally AND internationally... Yet there's so much negative energy and misinformation about them in the public eye... It really disappoints me.

Yup they were from newspaper sites. It's so bloody disappointing to see a country slowly turn on what used to be an industry everyone absolutely loved. at the link you posted. There are very few industry leaders in design, most play it safe and take notes from the successful designs of other manufacturers. Every now and then a company (often BMW) will try something new. Sometimes it fails, sometimes the world loves it. Very rarely is an entire car built with zero outside influence
