2007 GTS rear mufflers on 2011 SSV wagon?

As per title does anyone know if these will fit, or alternatively will the entire cat back exhaust be a simple bolt on/off job?

Certainly not a direct bolt up because the ute/wagon set-up is different to sedan from the rear mufflers i.e. much longer tips and I have heard that the hanger set-up is different too??? Can probably be made to fit with a bit of mucking around but why bother?

That's incorrect wonky. The wagons and sedan are exactly the same. I sold my 2.5" KPM catback from my sedan and it bolted onto a mates wagon perfectly. I'd say yes the GTS catback and mufflers would fit right up - but I haven't seen it done personally. I'm sure someone here has done this though.

Great to get the good oil from someone who has actually done it!

I figured the rear mufflers would fit, but unsure about the mid section as I have read that some of the HSV models have a slightly different angle on the cat flange. The wife has just bought an SSV wagon and she doesn't want it as loud as the Manta system on my ute, but wants to hear the V8. From all reports the GTS system seems to be a good compromise.

I assumed wagon and ute systems were the same from something I'd read, but it must only be the ute which is different. First time I've ever been wrong too..........

I think you'll find negligible difference in sound between the SSV and HSV catbacks though. The main reason for increased noise on the GTS is because of the HSV extractors.

I'm not meaning to be picky here wonks! I appologise for it in advance! But the wagons (in automatic only) have a dead quiet exhaust system on them to prevent any cabin noise when AFM kicks in. So it depends if the OP's car is auto or manual. I'm going to have a guess and say it's auto. Fitting a HSV exhaust will therefore be louder as they don't have to overcompensate with muffling to reduce AFM drone as LS3's don't have AFM.

To the OP, i'd try the swap if you were picking up the exhaust for peanuts (under $250). Otherwise, I know a forum member Hos had a good experience with a set of J-Pipes off ebay on his ssv wagon - I've never personally heard a set myself though.

    these are bolt up...

I had a set on my Series I wagon (bought in 2008)...and the same set are now residing on my 2012 Series II SSv wagon
( I put the std ones back on when i traded the SI)

not overly noisy...a nice vroom when you start it and at speed you know there is an 8 there
also both mine are manuals ..so AFM vibe/drone issues never occurred

ps..the mid section also bolts up

Re: 2007 GTS rear mufflers on 2011 SSV wagon?

Just to add my two cents...

Sedan and wagon exhausts are identical, and I am told that the only difference between Holden and HSV exhausts are the headers and exhaust tips.

I have never heard that AFM wagons have a 'quieter' set up to eliminate drone, only that AFM wagons were the first to have the flex joint at the rear mufflers.

As Damo stated above, I had a very good result from the J pipes on my AFM wagon, considering the price of them. Far better in terms of drone/boom issues in comparison to a premium priced 'guaranteed no drone' cat back I had for a while.

To the OP, If you can acquire a set of HSV mufflers for bugger all, worth a shot. From my understanding and info I have been given, they are all the same...... Let us know how you get on.

But hey, I could be wrong too! Wonks, your only human bud.

    Cheers,

    Hos.

Hos - there is a difference between the auto mufflers and the manual mufflers. The auto ones are designed to be quieter to hide the AFM noises. You can tell them apart by how the pipes leave the year of the muffler. The auto has a y pipe (one pipe that splits into two tips) and the manuals have two pipes that come out of the mufflers to each respective tip.

    hmmm...
very curious...as BOTH my SSv MANUAL wagons (SI and SII) came out of the factory with what you show as the 'auto' AFM rear mufflers
    very curious indeedy...
