If the 430kw GTS is as good as we are hoping. No doubt it will steal sales off more expensive european cars. M3 or M3 munching GTS + 50k in your pocket?

The 335 gt has been doing it since nov 2010.

What will separate this GTS from that?

Be interesting to see how quick they are. ZL1 and CTS-V does 1/4 in ~12.1 @117

I guess it depends on how much weight all of the inevitable new features adds to counteract the 70kg saving from the lighter panels!

One would hope similar if they have similar weights.

Bouka - hopefully the car is also dynamically sound, so it doesn't feel like you are driving a Ford

    Lol Luke.

The FPV is great in a straight line. Race tape holds everything on.

The VF Commodore weight loss is apparently a break even for the GTS ie. it weighs the same as the VE with all the extra bits and pieces.

For me, it would be important that the car siginficantly laps quicker around a curcuit, as opposed to 'just' being faster in a staright line than the current cars.

VF's should be going cheap by about 2019.... Better start saving!

Does anybody else agree this thread should not be a pissing contest?
Quite simply the fact that some can only afford an "older" car and spend money on it gradually is not a character flaw or make them a lesser person.
If you can buy a new GTS good on you, if not I'll still give you a thumbs up for doing up an older model. Enthusiasts come in many different forms.
    Back on topic heroes.

What's wrong with you mate?....Have you got a chip on your shoulder or what?
Comments like "look how much money I earn"....& "spending money I haven't got"....etc etc etc. What has this sort of stuff got to do with this thread? If the GTS is released the way we think it will be, then it will be a bloody good car.....simple as that.
    Cheers, Pickles.

Cmon fellas, let's keep it on track. Money comes and goes but our passion for all things automotive is the one thing we all share.

Whether you can afford one or not shouldn't preclude you from how passionate you are about the car, the make or the industry.

    Re: Supercharged HSV?

The GTS is going to be a limited build??? thats fantastic news & great for the buyer who thinks their getting the bee's knees of australian automotive history for their hard earned......Until someone @ HSV decides that they could smooth out the front & rear bumpers a little more & put bigger paddle shifters in & bring out an *update* 12 months later............As we ALL know that holden/HSV just can't be satified with leaving something the way it should be for a few years so the punters feel as though their driving/enjoying the current model for those few years......Just sayin.

    Re: Supercharged HSV?

Sounds like the 340kw versions are getting their extra power via a different "air intake" according to the Wheels article. Almost certainly this will be a variation of an OTR yes?

I'm in two minds about buying a new supercharged GTS over an AMG Merc. Will wait until the full details are revealed. As others have mentioned, HSV have a habit of releasing the latest and greatest only to dilute this a few short years later. They do this with special edition wheels etc in particular, maybe it is possible this one remains special for years to come as the LT1 is not going to be making this sort of power in NA form but won't a supercharged LT1 be in the last HSV later on in its model cycle (11.5:1 compression so maybe not!)? I'm confident that the LT1 HSVs are going to be very good with paddle shifts, rev matching on the manuals (like my 370z, the rev-matching is excellent).
