Congrats, I've had enough shift work and no sleep myself after years in the country doing anaesthetics, medicine and emergency - those 2am phone calls are a thing of the past - at least for a while. I know how hard you guys work so you deserve the rewards. How big are the kids? What about a CLA 45 AMG - I am still very interested in one of these, VERY interested. A much smaller car but my kids are not all that big yet. I am still hesitant to drop the $100K on the GTS nothing to do with badge snobery either. It's still a big car with a big motor wtih 'chav' styling (nothing wrong with that of course just a perception that's out there). I've had two E series HSVs and thinking of something smaller. I'm just not sure the extra $20,000 over the other premium HSVs is going to make as much sense once the LT1 is in them. The GTS will still be top dog but I'm hesitating.
Thanks mate. It was a long road. Are you practicing in Bris now?
The CLA 45 is also very appealing. I've been the opposite to yourself, I've had a few 2L turboed cars (heavily modified), and I'm now wanting to feel what its like driving a big V8. Im not familiar with the LT1, so will go do a bit of searching on it.

Yes, in Brisbane for a change doing some general practice. Will probably end up back in the country again one day as I like the excitement of hospital-based practice with emergencies and anaesthetics etc.

That sums it up well. Probably just a case of my preferences changing to experience something different. Would love to have both!
The LT1 is going to be great by all accounts. 6.2L direct injected, variable cam phasing (still OHV), DoD and a total redesign (barely a single part carried over from the LS3).

    Re: Supercharged HSV?

id say a 4.3 0-100 is the bare minimum for this car...espescially with all the years and years of engineering done on this...the greatest and fastest performance aussie car ever. (even though there are no stats yet) If the GT R spec can do it in 4.5..in its slap together state...then theres no excuse this car has...including OVERPOWERING ITS CHASIS. Now that's a call i cant wait to hear if its not fast enough for the masses haha

And to all those dissing the GTS to a certain degree.....why not? It hasn't proved anything yet...and at 100k plus...it better. I too am dying to see some actual real world figures to see if this car really is worth the asking price. otherwise ill probably be in another camp....not a fan of first gen models to tell the truth.

A really good question at this point in time - either a they are not as happy with the times or b the times are a bit wild and will cause a supercar style scare ... will be interesting to find out.

Good way to build hype and speculation about a car one would think..

I'm sure Motor or Wheels will have some kind of special backhanded money in my pocket from HSV report out shortly.

Maybe Murph stole the white GTS and took it back to NZ and as a result they can't do the tests on it

Re: Supercharged HSV? - Part 2

Dealers were sent retail pricing last night:

    Recommended Retail Pricing:
    ClubSport (6-speed manual). $60,990
    ClubSport R8 (6-speed manual) $71,290
    ClubSport R8 Tourer (6-speed manual) $72,290
    Maloo (6-speed manual) $58,990
    Maloo R8 (6-speed manual) $68,290
Senator Signature (6-speed manual or 6-speed automatic) $83,990
    Grange (6-speed automatic) $85,990
    GTS (6-speed manual) $92,990

So all these prices are plus on road costs. The SV pack will come in at a $4,990 option on top of R8 pricing.

That's pretty agressive pricing, and inline with what many have asked for.

I'm not sure you can be too dissatisfied with that.

Re: Supercharged HSV? - Part 2

So for a Clubsport R8 with SV pack and auto (assuming auto is a $2k premium) the RRP is $78,280 + ORC...so a low 80's price tag

So what is an E series GTS going to be worth now?
