Re: VF Commodore revealed - Official details and pics- Part 2

Yep, the only way I could describe the new Holden look is "inoffensive".
They really do look soft. I am sure lowering, a nice tint and some more aggressive wheels will go a long way towards helping.
I was driving next to an Aurion today and was thinking that the new Commodore was no more remarkable than that.
Is this what the punters want? I am interested to see the feedback from people who would not normally consider an SS Commodore.

I dont mind the red around the grille on the black, makes it look kinda sporty and reminds me abit of the red stripe the old valiant pacers used to have, just another way to make the sports models stand out, although i didnt see it in the options page on the holden website, it was all about black nothing red.

That SSV with the cream stripe in the seats and the cream on the dash is that a redline edition or standard SSV? I didnt come up with any colour options on the Holden website. Grrr this annoys me from what they say on the website from what you see in real life

    It was an SSV wagon.
    The seats looked great IMO.
Even the SS interior is a big step up.

I think the whole point of the less aggressive look is to try and lose some of that "bogan" factor they have been tagged with, they are trying to smarten the car up, bring it more upmarket. If you look at Mazda it's what they have done with their cars quite successfully.

Had a chat to the Sales manager at Commonwealth motors here in the ACT. He was very adamant that the commodore would be replaced by an Aussie built car based on the Cadillac CTS chassis. If this is true, we'll still have a rear wheel drive V8 'Holden' in the future. The plan is to reduce size and weight, thus saving fuel. It would be in the same class as a C63/M3 rather than the E63/M5.
I'm not sure if I believe him or not, but I'm kinda hoping he's right

I've heard similar but not sure how much I think it will happen though.

I'd like to believe him, such a car would be fantastic. The main problem I can see with it is that it would have a hard time carrying five people around; but on the other hand how many people need to do that (other than cabbies) who haven't already bought a 7 seater? Centre rear seat in the Commodore isn't much good anyway thanks to the transmission tunnel.

Perhaps the better question is how many people would buy such a thing as opposed to a Holden Impala?

For the grille surrounds I looked under ‘Accessories & Parts’ for the ‘SSV Redline Sedan’ on the Holden website and found it.

Go to ‘Exterior’, then ‘VF Front Grille Surrounds’ and you’ll find the option to:

‘Transform your VF Commodore into the ultimate sports machine with these upper and lower front grille surrounds. Also available in Red Hot’, for the miserly sum of $535.

Some poetic license with the wording there

If I can get an extra 10kw by adding the red one for only $535, I’ll go for them.
