    Project: VE Drag Car

    Chassis:
2010 VE SSV -$500 from wreckers, no dings or dents in main body, came minus doors, bonnet, boot & windows (why u would take windows is beyond me)
Only damage so far seems to be to the front right strut (have a spare so all good)
Front & rear cradles seem good, will find out once shit is put back in though i suppose
Also stripped of all creature comfort's

    Motor:
    Stock 6lt from a wrecked vz with 100k km's.
Put a 236/238@113+2 camshaft in it i got from gumtree for $100
spare ported oil pump i had in cupboard
spare double row timing chain from same cupboard along with new gaskets for sump, timing cover.
old heads with dbl springs from my ve motor - good for boost and "650 lift
    arp bolts from spares again
cleaned pistons when it was stripped down
    2.5 bar map sensor
    ID1000's

    Had to buy:
    new headgaskets - $140
2nd hand ls7 lifters & new lifter cups (was a displacement on demand motor) $100
VE sump - gumtree to rescue again - $150
-8 fittings for turbo oil return

    Gearbox & driveline:
    Stock 6l80e 6 speed auto - $750
Stock tailshaft - came with car
stock convertor - for now. see how it goes.
3.46 diff out my ve, replaced it with a 3.27
    stock half shafts

    Wheels
Front - 17x 4 Racestars with front runners - Clears brembo brakes, used them on my black ve
Rear - 17 x 10 Racestars - As above (except i need to order them)
    currently using 17 x 8 vy rims with 28 x 9.5 slicks

    Power Adder:
GenTT down pipes to Garret 2871r's
Ebay spec intercooler for twin turbo's config
    ECU/TCM
    E38 for engine & T43 for transmission
Custom Harness by Justin @ Ultimate Conversions in Sydney
Since picking it up I've baught new front and rear windows and had them installed. -$380 total
Got some 2nd hand front guards - $100
    2nd hand rad support - $100
    2nd hand radiator & thermo's - $200
My idea for this is to keep it within the rules for waw nights, and if anyone i know is keen to experiance a low 11 (maybe 10) second run give it a shot (for a small fee to cover tyres/fuel). obviously you will need to show competance, but i can limit throttle opening via ecu and ramp power in.

    On with some pictures:

    Obligatory engine pics

    Front window installed

Amount of electrical wiring is incredable and this is not even all of it

    Other pics of car

It's happened before, It will all happen again.

Black bonnet is my original one from my road car, boot i picked up for $50. It's got some damage to it, but nothing that can't be sorted when it's repainted the correct colour.
Got a mate who is also building a ve ute into a burnout car so im getting some needed interior parts from him, like center console and electric pedal assembly.
But today i stripped the wiring out and removed the dash to remove the hvac unit (shit job!)

I have to applaud you Tre-Cool, looks like you will end up with a potent racer but at a budget price. Well done.

I read your detail from start to finish and am impressed, but I had to write (sorry about this) to say that our RRP on factory MLS GM Performance head gaskets is $98.75. A lot of punters out there don't realise we have super competitive pricing on LS valve train parts. If we can assist, give us a call.

I actually took a look on your website but you dont list headgaskets as a seperate item. along with lifter buckets etc also. As a horder of ls parts, i didnt need a full dod removal kit.

Plus figured sending headgaskets in the mail would end up bent/rooted by aus post.

I'll be in contact eventually for a 2.5bar map sensor, note that's another item no longer showing on your store, but it used to.

Good points, damn. I will have to sort the site. My bad.

As to supply via Auspost or the like; we do it daily without a drama, in fact I can't remember the last time we had a gasket damaged en route.

    Cheers
