It's not a difficult exercise to wind the boost up on the E63 twin turbos and make it an animal either...tuning of them just isn't as common as tuning of Holden's/HSV's

Ok then....How would you describe a "Powerhouse" & a "Bullet"?
And, I ain't saying you don't know your cars mate, because you clearly do,.....just that with the GTS...IMHO of course, you ain't been particularly enthusiastic?
I've had Ford's & Holdens too & all sorts of other cars....so I ain't got no "favourites"...but keeping that in mind, I reckon that this will go down as the best Aussie Muscle car...ever. (Well who knows what's around the corner?....so, I'll say "to-date" at least)
    Cheers, Pickles.

For me the 0 to 100 and 1/4 times arent a big deal, its the 740 nm of torque and the driveability of it, I want it to be able to turn and point and shoot. i will be leaving mine stock, I modded the hell out of my GTO and been there done that..... Never again. This is the car I have been waiting on HSV to make for 7 or 8 years since the GTO to bring me back... I reckon if the reviews are realistic it will be a weapon and easily the best HSV to date........ I am biased though

I won't be able to afford one for a while but I think they look awesome.
We are in the last throes of the Aussie muscle car, ford built a brilliant engine but decided to rate it at 10kw better on the badge when it's probably should be something over 400. If you were going to fiddle with them big gains from a ported snout, intake, pulley swap. Some pretty fat cts-v running round in the states, they are a 1.9l blower but the runners are better than a
Maggie, piston oil squirters, independent 8 rib drive in front of the accessories.
I'm putting forged pistons in a ls3 build for my vu so I can maybe bolt one on later.
    Long live the Gts!

And I think in a couple years as a final kick a limited run of ls9 powered ones would be in order.
Take note Holden engineers, we all know you are reading this thread.

LS9?...Nice engine for sure, but I don't think it'll ever be seen in a Commodore.

I have to admit a few years ago I hoped that would try to build something with an LS9, but given the engineering and hurdles they had to jump for the LSA + gearbox + Diff I seriously doubt they would try to get the LS9 engineered. Have to remember its not just a simple case of dropping something in like an aftermarket mod. There must be a tonne of work & $$ they would never see a return on to make it legal.

Funny people are saying that the times arent really impressive yet, the new V12 Aston Martin Vanquish does 0-100 in 4sec then goes onto the 1/4 in 12.3secs! If u ask me the GTS aint to bad. The Vanquish has 520kw na V12 and weighs in at 1700kgs vs the 430kw s/c v8 weighing in at 1850 or so. How about everyone start being proud we have a 2 real performance cars in this country now that can easily scare shit out of the euros, well done to both HSV and FPV

Re: Supercharged HSV? - Part 2

Well the first independent test confirms your thoughts on this matter. Fastest 0-100 time is 4.7 with constant 4.8s using launch control according to the Telegraph on Friday August 2. Very disappointing really, Wheels quotes the R spec GT at 4.6 sec, oh well there's another over statement from HSV. Something really wrong with the HSV figures, the Camaro LT1 and Cadillac CTS both similar in weight and with the same engine are way quicker. Methinks something like 370 kw is more realistic for the GTS.

Doesn't matter about lap time or handling, at the end of the day it looks like the conservatively quoted GT R spec holds the title as Oz's fastest car, and it's way cheaper.

Like many, I thought this GTS would be a land mark vehicle and blow away the Ford GT challenge and be something that would really stand up to the imports. Sadly I think HSV's renowned marketing spin has once again hoodwinked us and this is not as good as it has been touted. Don't be fooled by all the gizmo's, the 2005 model Bimmer M5 had HUD and all sorts of techno stuff, and quotes 373kw from it's 5.00 litre V10 with a time of 4.7 for 0-100. I was looking at the GTS to replace my current GTS but I think a second hand M5 is more of the real deal.

That said, if they did a Blown Maloo ??

    I think it's great .

So it didn't do it's posted 0-100 times , I don't think any car does and who drives at 0-100 times.

The sheer oomph of that torque as you round someone up on the twisties then power up the mountain ........ all in a factory warranted blown V8 .

as for an 05 M5 , yeah cheap at 50k for a 250k vehicle, but at 8 yrs old and you've got BMW servicing costs and an aging V10 with 10 problems.
