    My VF SSV

Well after 79 days of waiting, a lot of stuffing around to find fact from fiction, I FINALLY got to pickup the new ride on Friday !!!

    2013-09-20 14.20.08.jpg

And with only 17kms on the clock, you know its new !!!

    2013-09-20 14.12.24.jpg

First impressions, its so smooth and quiet .... its actually too quiet, I was tempted to pop the bonnet and double check the was a V8 there because you can hardly hear the engine, that was until I put my foot down. Coming up from a VE SV6 the additional 50kw is so noticeable all through the rev range. I had a great old time driving it home from the dealership, with a good 2.5hrs on the highway I got a good feel for the car, I only passed a few car but the engine pull from the time you open the throttle, then pickup was so fluent and effortless I fear my winning streak of 5yrs without a speeding ticket may soon come to an end.

Like most I'm still getting to know the car in and out, there is a tonne of features you can play with to suit your personal taste. I optioned in the Sunroof + Premium Audio and love the punch out of the Bose system, the sunroof is a little on the small side but I'm a wee bit old to be standing out of it so no biggie. My only complaints are the climate control is totally shithouse and will need the HVAC software update applied plus I noticed both the front lights were fogged up on the inside when I arrived home so will get that looked in to. Having not owned a V8 before I don't know if its a characteristic of the car but when sitting at the lights there be a bit of a shake throughout so will ask them to check the harmonic balancer and engine mounts at the 3,000km service.

Mods wise I'm looking at a VCM OTR, tune and an exhaust .... not sure if I will got full or just a catback. I've been thinking a Walkinshaw Power Pack which cover all this, I believe they use DiFilippo systems (can anyone confirm this?) or possibly a KPM. This is going to be the family car so driveability is number one and I can't have it look loud or with the dreaded drone.

Otherwise I'm a very happy camper, the car is a pig but will wash it tomorrow and put up some new pics.

    Yeah 107km ..... my bad.

In all honesty I was trying to not sit on the same speed on the Hume (110km) and was up and down between 100km and 110km and on a number of occasion found I'd jumped past that a number of times as he car felt so different to the VE. Even today when going in to work sticking to the 60km and 80km limits was a trick .... digital speedo is GREAT and I've set my speed alert now so should keep things in check.

Congrats on the new car Chris...the more you drive it the more you will realise the leap up.....

My headlights had that condensation when I got it home but only noticed the once.

Walkinshaw use Di Flippo exhausts now....

    Auto or manual ?

    Enjoy

Very Nice. Geez you sure had a long wait, must have been a killa. I'll be interested to see what exhaust and otr you go for and seeing the results. How soon do you plan on upgrading your exhaust? I believe a Walkinshaw package won't void your warranty but can be a bit pricey compared to other options and was considering this myself.

Its an Auto however I'm considering having AFM switched off when I get it tuned, I'm told there isn't that much difference to the fuel efficiency

Horsepower Factory do the Walkinshaw WP Power Pack for $3,735 and you can switch to the OTR for an additional cost. This is what I was considering but I really want to go for a drive in one and et an idea on the loudness first, its the wife says no then it will just be a OTR and tune

Nice ride Krizto. Similar to my new car I picked up the other week - SSV M6 in Nitrate sans sunroof and Bose stereo upgrades. Old ride was an 04 VYII SS ute that I had since new so a giant leap in refinement and features etc. Bought the missus a new XR5 Turbo a couple of years back and was impressed with the refinement of that but the VF has leapfrogged this so that it now feels harsh in comparison!
