VF & Gen F Series II

Well now that Series I is out I wonder what we will see next from Holden / HSV in Series II.

    Any engine upgrades / changes ? LT1 ? Supercharged LT1 ? Turbocharged LT1 ? LS3 into Holdens ?

What other changes / additions would you like to see or you think might happen ?

    Go for it.....

Only thing id update in my VF is an LS3 and fix the engine bay look. I absolutely hate the silly stupid incredibly ugly and cheap looking engine covers. Take a look at Audi no engine covers nice anodised rocker covers etc its not hard.

same as before I imagine - incremental upgrades, new wheels, different colours, small updates here and there, new rear lights.

    Realistic thoughts?

LT1 for all non GTS HSV's, Same LSA for GTS with a power bump.

Senator and GTS gets Paddles for Auto.

GTS maybe to get the auto-rev-match-tranny for manuals.

HID's on all bar the base Maloo and base Clubby.

Turf Alchemy, Regal Peacock, Fantale, Perfect Blue as colour options, Hopefully get a nice dark blue, dark red/maroon and probably another grey/silver choice.

    Grange/Statesman to get external update.

    Wild Speculation;

Base clubby dropped, R8 becomes the new base, SV is the new R8.

All to get a price cut of a few grand, especially the senator.

Redline price to jump about 3k

Redline to get L99 Engine, with same as option in SSV

Nappy look to be replaced by something even more ugly

Holden badge on the front to get even bigger

LT1 for Clubbie/Senator from the C7 Corvette (doubt we will see an upgrade for the GTS, GM look like going the 4.5L TTV8 route for the hot Corvette).
7 speed Tremec manual with rev matching from the C7 Corvette.
Auto Paddle shifters from the Chev SS.
Carbon Ceramic brakes from the Camaor Z/28 on the GTS.

All from the GM parts bin so should be doable...

    Cheers, Matthew

Well for SS, SS-V and Redline:
    Larger rear spoiler as standard.
    Chev SS style badging.

    For SS-V and Redline:
    Memory seat for driver.
    LS3 in base tune.
    Dark suede trim.
    Different wheels for Redline.

    For Calais and Calais-V:
    Auto dimming rear view mirror.
FE2.5 suspension tune as an option.

    For all Commodores:
    Couple of new colours.
Some of the tech from the higher models trickles down the range.
Slight revisions to rear tail lights on sedan only.
    Return of the Vacationer!
Larger front badge. Possibly whole bonnet pressing is turned into Holden badge.

Without wanting to be a party pooper, but you've got to look at the market. Falcon is all but dead, choices for a large sedan are limited and of course VF's life is going to be quite short next to VE's with just three years to go on the market.

I personally think seeing the base tune LS3 make its way into Calais-V and SS-V will be the extent of the engine changes as that R&D is already paid for. I expect HSV will adopt the 340kw model as the base tune for their cars and drop the plain jane base model they have. I think the LS3 will stick around in the HSV range until the end of VF.

Really you have to remember Holden put a lot of money and tech into the series 1. Normally you'd expect some of this stuff to be in series 2, but lets face it, the car has a relatively short lifespan with 2016 not that far away. Doesn't make financial sense on their current sales to be doing wholesale changes to the driveline or anything else at this point. Series 1 is a significant upgrade to VE and a simple freshen up makes the most financial sense for the car.

I think they should start by giving us the vented seats and paddle shift that currently are going to the US.
    HID Headlights.
Offer both trim options in Redline series instead of just the lighter suede.
New Wheels for SS and Redline.

I was like that with the Redline suede as well at first but after owning it for a while I think its ok and a bit of a difference from all black especially at night.

Given the short run, will there be a series 2?

Looking on the Holden website, they advertise an engine cover although it looks like they have raided a red tin of paint.
