Its interesting that holden has gone to 275s on the rears of the redline. Is 275 the sweet spot in terms of traction and cost? I suppose the 255s on the front of the gen-fs would help steering

I think you'll find 275 is the largest that allows sufficient "factory clearances". Exactly the reason HSV didn't go bigger tyres on pre-VE

Hard to say with all the shadow... But wouldn't surprise me if he had any goodies he wants, so more than likely correct

That was my thinking and a positive for you guys, as it must be a positive thing , be interesting to see if he went any bigger tyre or rim wise .

Coz I doubt HSV would do anything negative to a V8Supercar drivers car.

Tekno Performance have released two sets of lowered springs for VF GTS already (375mm HTG and 355mm HTG) and have a "V-Band clamp exhaust system with factory EDI controlled bi-modal mufflers". That's just on their Facebook page.

    Hope the pics work.

    Re: Supercharged HSV?

I had a look at a VF HSV in the flesh a few weeks ago and noticed the gap between the tire and wheel arch are smaller than the VE gaps giving u the impression it's lowered. From memory the VF runs a higher profile tire than the VE, so it shrinks the gap between the tire and arch or maybe they are in fact slightly lower from factory? It's got to be one or the other.

The fronts are only 6mm larger diameter though the rears are 26mm taller. I think GenFs sit lower as well.

GTSLSA blue is the go but it needs wheels. I suggest the forgeline but colour for the blue is interesting it could be gold because gold goes with blue cars but thats to outrageous so i reckon gun metal or bronze in 20x10 and 20x9

    Re: Supercharged HSV?

I am going to keep it 100% stock and I like the GTS wheels... I have been down the high mod road both with my old GTO and my ex EVO IX.... In the long run I have ended up regretting it both times... But that's just me, I am over modding cars. Not to say that anyone else should not do what ever they want.... What ever makes you happy

Re: Supercharged HSV? - Part 4

I agree mate it is a waste of money really but when i look back its good to have done these things to me its like flying an f18 or an old spitfire the average guy can never do that but in a way our little cars are similar it gives a bit of enjoyment.

GTSLSA: you're not even going to tune it for a bit more potential?

I can see why you'd keep it stock otherwise though.

Re: Supercharged HSV? - Part 4

My goal when decided to buy was keep it stock, and keep it for a decent amount of time... Unless HSV bring out some super weapon as the last of the V8's/ RWD... But who knows what the future will bring.
May do a tune but I don't want to change bimodal air or exhaust, so not sure if would be much benefit???

And it's go's like a cut cat as is

Always makes me laugh, on the C63 forums as well, ..."gotta have bigger tyres on the rear"???!!! Well, if all ya're interested in is acceleration, IN A STRAIGHT LINE, yes, maybe a bigger tyre might give ya a fraction of a second improvement, but,.......at what what cost to general handling & driveability, cornering etc, in all sorts of conditions, that are encountered in everyday driving?
I say that HSV have "done their homework" with the GTS. So, I say, if ya wanna fit bigger rubber for more maybe marginally more traction in a straight line, then go for it. I also say that with that bigger rubber on the rear, you will encounter greater understeer in some conditions, & also some "unbalance".
HSV did a lot of R/D on this car. Ya wanna change it, ya know more than HSV?....well go for it? I wouldn't.
    Cheers, Pickles.
It makes you wonder why AMG put wider rims and tyres on their more expensive models.

It is simply to keep the cost down for the owners of the entry level models.

All motoring journalists and professional drivers talk of the C63 being under tyred in a straight line and whilst cornering, something that was corrected by putting wider shoes on the Black Series.
