    Re: VF Commodore/HSV Owner's Problems & Complaints

I find it pretty amazing that in 2013 major manufacturers still can't get the paint right. It comes down to cost, obviously, but at what cost to the brand?

    Re: VF Commodore/HSV Owner's Problems & Complaints

    HSV Problems

    Temperature

1 Car was showing outside 15 degrees (over long period of time), in and around city (Melbourne). Temp was obviously much warmer, BOM indicated 24.

A second occurrence was Monday 18th. Drove car for about 15 minutes and temp was shown as 17. Check BOM, it was over 22. After that 15 mins, within a 5 min period it went in steps to 23.

2 Set interior temp at 21. No heating (on a cold day). Adjust temp up and about 24-26 it started to provide warmth (hot air!). THIS HAPPENS OFTEN.

    Radio (no sound)

3 On accessories, radio on. Start car, radio (or iPod) comes on but no sound. Have to turn radio off/on to get sound.

    Instrument light control

4 Dash light adjustment (toggle switch) not working?

External light control (daytime running lamps)

5 Cannot turn off using “turn to off position” as per manual.

    Losing NAV POI adjustments

6 I have them on HIDE ALL. However, when I start the car they appear. When I check, they are set to NONE. Even though it is set, I touch “Hide all” again and they disappear (as they should)… I have to do this every time I start the car. Even though “Hide all” is selected, it loses this setting when the car is turned off.

Wiper does a sweep for no reason

7 A few times the wiper has done a single sweep for no reason (no rain, no water…). Last Sunday, when I pressed the switch to turn on the air cond, the wiper did a sweep as I touched the button.

    Leak from driver’s external mirror

8 This problem has already been looked at. There is a leak from the driver’s external mirror that is not just water – it seems to be something mixed in with it. Service said that this was “normal”. I do not agree! Service have had the mirror apart. It is still occurring

    IPOD artists (not all listed)

9 iPod. When I use the menu, and select “artists”, MOST of the artists do not appear. When I select a playlist, I can see the songs by those missing artists.

    NIGGLES !!

10 When wearing sunglasses, the HUD is dimmed (even on full) to the point of being unable to read it. Turn the sunglasses on the side, all is well. Obviously polarization, but why was the HUD designed such that common sunglasses have such a negative affect?

11 NAV colour. I am red/green colour blind. The colours used on the NAV screen (HSV version) is really bad for me. The current location pointer just blends into the map – I have to stare for some time before I can see it – not good when trying to drive a car. I have already approached Holden on this, they are not interested.

12 iPod connection sticks out. Only time before I place something in there and (eventually) break the lead! Crap design.

For a new car, a HSV ($'s) this is really bad. I am actually yearning for the FPV GT I traded in. So simple, a driver's car.

    Re: VF Commodore/HSV Owner's Problems & Complaints

.... and (to add to my list above)....

LOW Fuel warning takes over centre screen on Dash.

10 When starting the car, the “Fuel Level Low” warning was coming on. Simple to cancel, just a twist on the stalk (menu). Watching my distance to empty, it got down to just over 20k. Another “Fuel Level Low” came on....

Problem? IT COULD NOT BE CANCELLED. Tried all sorts of switches, restarting car. I could no longer monitor the amount of fuel left (or anything else in this panel). It only cleared when I put fuel in the car.

** With all the electronic problems of this car (problems which are common), I now double my sentiment above "For a new car, a HSV ($'s) this is really bad. I am actually yearning for the FPV GT I traded in. So simple, a driver's car"

I don't think its unacceptable when fuel is that low, my VE does it to, I'm not so sure its a good thing to run fuel that low anyways.

    Re: VF Commodore/HSV Owner's Problems & Complaints

On my E1 and E2 (from memory) once the low fuel light came on there was no way of checking the km left or fuel left. I think that happened with 50 to go. At least with the GenF it lets you see both until you get to the magic 20km and then you get the fixed screen. The other thing is that it is reasonably accurate. At 50km left a week or so ago I drove into the city and back and fuelled up just before I got home. That would have been a trip of 35km thereabouts to the fuel station so the last 5km was on the VF low warning. I reckon it is an improvement. What annoys me is that you cancel the first warning on the dash but have to separately cancel the warning on the centre screen.

    VF SSV-Redline,

Just on 2100km and have had these items:

    • Sunroof slide cover knocks and rattles if not pushed al the way forward (closed)
    • Drivers seat knocks/moves - same as others
    • Auto Shifter came out (held in by the leather boot), had to slam it back in, will get this checked
    • Steering wheel has a tendency of squeaking when turned!
    • IPhone Bluetooth pair being lost (has happened twice!)

Also a good one for others with an iPhone if it hasn't been mentioned. After pair with the MyLink, go back into your Bluetooth, select MyLink, and enable the 'Show Notifications' option. This is disabled by default?? This then allows all your SMS's to be displayed on MyLink and allow you to listen to them while driving!
    Hopefully be addressed at 3000km..

That's what happens when you dumb the populous down, you have to hold their hand and give them fair warning, or they'll sue for running outa of fuel in a bad part of town.

This is just the automatic wiper system thinking that there is rain when your windscreen is a bit dirty and the light changes. Had this occasionally also.

Agree - When the fuel light comes on is time to refuel, anyone trusts the DTE after that should not complain when they run out of fuel at an intersection.

    Re: VF Commodore/HSV Owner's Problems & Complaints

I've had to escalate my issues to holden customer service after the dealership after various attempts has failed to sort out my issues.

Have 8000 on the clock and issues as follows in order of priority.

    - Climate Control Still not working correctly. either temp is out of wack at the front or blowing out hot air out of the back etc.
    - Radio has bad reception issues. constant static / cracks / pops in the background when driving around. (i cant stand it, its that bad.)
    - Rear drivers side passenger seatbelt assembly rattles like a mofo when somebody is sitting in the seat and has the seat belt on.
    - Have yet to report this, but as other have started to mention it i will next time i speak to Holden, My drivers side seat rattles on one side.
    - Have yet to report this, but windscreen wiper randomly goes off. (happened even after i had the car completely clean and was in garage)

And sometimes when driving i think i hear a noise coming from the steering wheel, however it may just be noise bouncing from the drivers seat as previously mentioned so wont report that until i sort everything else out!.

    Re: VF Commodore/HSV Owner's Problems & Complaints

I just got a call from Barloworld Holden as I reports movement issues at the 3,000km service on (13-Nov) and the replacement seat fastener clip has arrived and will be installed on Wednesday.

Apparently this is a revised clip to stop and forward/ backwards and sideways movement ... a clip sounds a lot less than your replacement base, will keep you posted if it resolves the issue!

I'd say it's probable when jkgmh had his issue raised and now they've figured out the actual problem.

    Re: VF Commodore/HSV Owner's Problems & Complaints

Has anyone had squeaking breaks on Redline ?
Seems to come and go a little bit. Wasn't happening when I got the 3k service so didn't report it but starting to be annoying.
