Don't forget the shipping delay for cars built overseas where January delivered cars might have been built back in August or September which kind of negates January as the guaranteed month for deals.
Did the same last year when our Mum bought a new Toyota, found the My12s were @ least October build dated @ best!

If you are going for a Mazda 3, from my recollections of past years they don't do any better deals in January. They have a new 3 coming out in Feb? the 3 is already advertised at $19,990 da, I doubt you'll see much better advertised. I think Mazda have the benefit of demand, selling everything they bring in, so they don't have to do big discounts to move stock, but obviously once the new model is here they will want the old ones gone. It sounds like the new 3 will be more expensive than the current car, so if you want a new 3 now, I would say go for it. If you are thinking Toyota, perhaps January deals may be a little better than December. I don't think you can go wrong with either, Toyota has the capped price servicing, but probably not a big deal in the overall buying decision.

I know this out of your price range, however shows what deals can be had. Was looking at a new SV6, $$$$ was hovering around $40k with dealers not really wishing to haggle. Thought I'd take a look at an new XR6. Took one for a drive, not too bad. Ended up getting a new FG MKII XR6 auto (4km on odo) with tow bar, 5 year 200000km factory warranty, roadside and first service free for $31506 driveaway.

With the new Mazda 3 just around the corner I would be waiting. Do a quick search online and you will find it is a significant upgrade over the current model and once it hits the market, the current model will drop off in price significantly and look extremely dated. I've made the mistake twice where I purchased a run out model and regretted it not long after. Although if that doesn't bother you, go for it. Just my 2c

    Hi.
Regardless of what you want to buy more important is when and how. Look around first at what you may be interested in,brands, prices, service, options, etc whatever you think is important to you.Try to do that in the last week of any month as most dealers are chasing their quota's and when you think you have negotiated a good deal just walk away but leave your contact number.

Most dealers will be falling over themselves to get you to buy before the month's end and it's when you can get a better deal, they always keep something extra up their sleeve and the phone will run hot.

But when they and you feel good about the deal be prepared to sign on the line.

    Good Luck.

I see a local dealer is selling Lancer VRX Model 2013 at $21,990 drive away.

The platform might me a little dated but engine and extras is VERY good value.
