Took a trip to Lamington National Park (O'Rielly's) on Sunday. Walked the 18km Toolona Creek track to take in the best of the falls and ancient trees.

    Just for something different....

I succumbed to a long time temptation recently and modded my original Sony "pseudo" DSLR. I undid the image sensor and removed the IR/UV block filter to make it a full time IR camera. I'm pretty happy so far.

Thanks Kurt. Here's another closer shot of the falls in the background.

Interesting project Simon. Does the meter still indicate exposure correctly, or do you have to take a few test shots to bring in a decent manual "guess" of what is actually good exposure?
Look forward to seeing some more shots from you in here.

    Re: SLR Cameras

Metering works OK, but I tend to pull the shots by up to 2 stops. It's a bit of a guess at times and I still need to replace the filter with some plane glass. Because the filter increases the light path slightly, removing it messes up the focus, basically it's very hard to get any distance focus unless you shoot at F8. It works though and I can't really complain given what it was like trying to use film for IR....

    more IR shots are here.

    Re: SLR Cameras

Been up at Fraser Island for the past week. Perfect weather and not that many tourists made for a very pleasant break.

The water at Lake McKenzie simply must be seen in person to be fully appreciated.

Hard to believe the Maheno ran aground almost 80 years ago.

Great shots. My first trip to Fraser was as a school kid and we fished off the Maheno and I caught a squire inside the boat! But then that was about 100 years ago.
